Format: Audio CD
Not sure where one reviewer got the idea that this is a "bootleg" volume as Relic Records has been distributing golden oldies compilations for some time (starting way back with vinyl LPs) and, until folding in 2000, always produced good sound quality reproduction (Walter DeVenne does the honors here) and with informative liner notes, in this instance by Donn Fileti. Here they provided these 19 sides (5 of them previously unreleased) by an R&B quintet who, as it turns out, became a legitimate One-Hit Wonder in 1961 (just one song placed in any of the national singles charts): 1. Rama Lama Ding Dong; 2. Three Precious Words; 3. Born In Mexico (previously unreleased); 4. Don't Know What To Do; 5. Love Makes The World Go Round (previously unreleased); 6. Could It Be?; 7. Hide and Seek (previously unreleased); 8. Let's Go; 9. My Whispering Heart; 10. Count The Tears (alternate version previously unreleased); 11. Twenty-Four Hours; 12. What Brought Us Together?; 13. Got To Find Out About Love; 14. Give Me Love (previously unreleased); 15. Count The Tears; 16. Bells; 17. Rink-A-Dink-Ki-Do; 18. Hide And Seek; 19. Do You Love Me?

Starting out as The Essos from Youngstown, Ohio (lead George Jones, Jr., bass Marshall Sewell, tenor Larry Green, baritone Harry Green and tenor James Reynolds) they switched names to become The Edsels when that now infamous Ford product first hit the market in 1957 and, in 1958, cut the Jones-penned nonsensical-lyrics Lama Rama Ding Dong b/w Bells for Dub Records. It promptly went nowhere as Dub 2843, as did their next 3 singles: Rink-A-Din-Ki-Do b/w Do You Love Me? (Roulette 4151) in 1959, Don't Know What To Do b/w What Brought Us Together? (Tammy 1010) and Three Precious Words b/w Let's Go (Tammy 1014), both in 1960.

This CD was deleted from the manufacturer's inventory in 1999 and all copies extant destroyed including glass masters, graphics, etc. I know...my husband was the manufacturer!! Relic Records included at great expense a 16 page booklet which I'll bet is NOT included in most copies sold on amazon. Because this title has been in demand and it has not been legitimately available, certain parties have copied the Relic original...their bootlegs have faded graphics, inferior label art and almost certainly, no 16 page booklet. This "new seller" states that he/she has 4 copies available...judging by the majority of legally questionable items in their seller's inventory, I would bet that their Relic Edsels' CD is merely "copied media" and should not be offered or sold on amazon.

Why would masters be destroyed? why not donate these Musical recordings to Smithsonian museum ? If they were of so little value why are they being bootlegged now?
