5.0 out of 5 stars A great place to start, January 11, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Ransom (Audio CD)
Cartel, IMO, is one of the best out there. period. their music is really, REALLY catchy. Almost everything you hear is a hook, and the lead singer has great pipes. Although i'd have to say i like their newest, "chroma", a little better, this record is still no less than 5 stars.

1. Lucky st...(available on "chroma", catchy as all hell 10/10)
2. Write this down...(amazingly catchy pop-punk track 9/10)
3. Hey, don't stop...(one of the catchiest pop-rockers i've ever heard. The song has two hooks and never lets down for it's entire duration. This one is the best cartel song ever IMO 11/10)
4. The city never sleeps...(another great song, very good hook, and the melody will stick in your head for awhile 10/10)
5. Last chance...(sweet 8/10)
6. The ransom...(title track, a bit more rock than pop-rock 8/10)
7. Fiend...(acoustic song. not as good as the album's songs early on in the record, but solid 7/10)

The best EP i've ever heard. If records like "say it like you mean it" and "sticks and stones" changed your life, you MUST get to know cartel. Pop-punk never sounded so good.

Cartel is an awesome this CD is just a great at Chroma. Once again all the tracks on here are just incredible. Cartel is very talented and I have a great feeling they will be around for awhile. And this is not pop-punk it's rock n roll.

I found out about Cartel a long time ago and I got one of my best friends hooked on them. My friend even got me their autograph! It has a little different sound than Chroma, but you have to listen to really hear it. A must have for any Cartel fan.

4.0 out of 5 stars More bands should sound like cartel, June 6, 2006
This review is from: Ransom (Audio CD)
'Hey, don't stop' is probably one of the best tunes I've heard in awile. Take the energy and aggression of Fall Out Boy and mix it with the emotion provided by bands like The Starting Line and Spitalfield, and you have cartel. Anyone who likes fast paced pop/punk/rock music should get to know cartel. Good stuff!

5.0 out of 5 stars Cartel - Ransom Review, October 2, 2010

This Cartel EP is a precursor to their debut album, Chroma. Fans of the band's early work will appreciate this EP. I had listened extensively to Cartel's albums before discovering this EP. My personal favorite is Chroma, and this EP could be straight off the album. The style is almost identical to that of Chroma. The song "Lucky St." can be found on both Ransom and Chroma. The two versions are nearly identical with only a few subtle differences. If you like Cartel You will love this EP. I did.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cartel is One of the Best Pop-Punk bands!, September 20, 2005
This review is from: Ransom (Audio CD)
This cd is so amazing on every level of music and lyrics. I love every second of this cd, its amazing. Im copying what this one guy does cause it helps explains the songs, so here i go

1- Luckie St. 10/10 This song rocks so hard, this is a great song with a great beat.
2- Write This Down 10/10 This is probably my favorite song on the cd, great guitar combos and great singing.
3- Hey, Dont Stop 10/10 This song is abosolutely sweet in very way. Great nice punk beat for it, with some emo lyrics, but sweet song non the less.
4- The City Never Sleeps 10/10 The song starts out with not much of a great beat, but its overall sweet, its all about the singing.
5- Last Chance 10/10 Im being serious, this song rocks hard. Great chorus, very catchy.
6- The Ransom 10/10 This song has a great chorus as well, very catchy, great singing and a great title track for the cd.
7- Fiend 10/10 Great song that has an acoustic greatness to it. Probably the best song for lyrics and emo. Great stuff.

This cd is so great that you just have to buy it. Every song is worth the money for the cd. This band rocks alot!

This is one of the finest EP's I have ever heard. I can't wait for these guys to put out a full length album. This was very highly regarded on www.absolutepunk.net in their end of the year reviews. It's shocking that these guys are just getting started.

5.0 out of 5 stars These guys are incredible, December 3, 2004
This review is from: Ransom (Audio CD)
I had there cd before they were recently signed by the Miltia Group and it was amazing... now with their new EP they added two new songs: "the city never sleeps" and "fiend" that make the album only more incredible...

I honestly give every song on the album a 10/10... Will's vocals are one of a kind, joseph and andy on the guitars are one of the best duos i've heard.. hairy ryan roberts tears up the bass... with kevin beating the crap out of the drums..

If you like bands like Saves the Day, Further Seems Forever, heck even Mae.. check these Conyers, GA boys out.. you'll be singing "its time to roll the windows down...." IF MY NAME ISNT ROBERT GOULET! GOULET!
