5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent resource for enjoying and grappling with Poe October 21, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Bought this to read and discuss story by story with my son.... It was an excellent choice. Again, his work is hard to digest quickly and his moral dilemmas can stimulate conversations for some time. The Cask of Amontillado still has us arguing over revenge and retribution. A must have for those in high school as part of the milestones in becoming an educated person.

It is an overall good product. It does what it’s supposed to and does it well. No complaints, it showed up on time, is good quality, and packaging was sufficient.

This product is okay for a compilation of Edgar Allen Poe's short stories. The stories should all be out-of-copyright and should be close to free, so the price on this product is reasonable, being very low.

Based on the "look inside" preview of this book on Amazon, I was hoping to see many of the Gustave Dore illustrations for The Raven. As it turns out, there are just two. For the other stories featured in this ebook, there is approximately one illustration, ususally of the vignette-size, per story. They are all from artists in the 1848-1919 time frame. So technically this work is illustrated, but not highly-illustrated, so it wasn't what I was looking for.

Overall I can't give this book a good rating. I wish more had been done to make it noteworthy and interesting.

5.0 out of 5 stars Elegant March 14, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
If you must memorize a poem, it may as well be presented in top illustrations. This collection of Poe poems is complete with the 19th century illustrations of Gustav Dore -- they convey the weird, gothic spookiness in excellent style.

This book does NOT contain Annabel Lee.

Includes the Raven; The Valley of Unrest; Bridal Ballad; The SLeeper; The Coliseum; Lenore; Israfel; Dream-Land; Catholic Hymn; Sonnet - To Zante; The City in the Sea; To One in Paradise; To F-S S. O-D; To F-; Sonnet to Silence; The Conqueror Worm; The Haunted Palace.

Some biographical information on Poe. Very good book. You'll be glad to own this.
