"The Rebel Set" shows the dangers of beatnik poetry, modern dance, and jazz clubs- they lead honest-living young men to rob banks in Chicago, then engage in devious ways to protect their wealth! The beatnik scenes are laughably bad... from a rude Citizen Kane (70th Anniversary) lookalike who gets dragged out by young ruffians, to a woman who wiggles in an abstract way. The young men are lured by the promise of money. Ed Platt goes from being their evil mentor to disguising himself as a virtuous priest on the train. It's an OK movie, but The Mystery Science Theater 3000 Collection, Vol. 12 (The Rebel Set / Secret Agent Super Dragon / The Starfighters / Parts: The Clonus Horror) is MUCH superior.

Yes, you beatnicks that hang out at Starbucks, a million dollars is offered by the owner, Tucker, (ED Platt) if the trio can follow a
secret plan to rob an armored car. Film has excellent photography of
Karl Struss who worked with Fritz Lang and is a stirring indictment of what greed can do to change a person's principles and values. Faustian symbols abound throughout.
