Book Description

From being a priest in the kingdom of darkness to an evangelist in the
kingdom of light—this true story will shock and amaze you!

Jesus Christ appeared to Joshua Blahyi as a blinding light and told him that he would die unless he repented of his sins.

Joshua Blahyi grew up in Africa, became a powerful pagan priest in a local tribe, and then became one of the most feared warlords in Liberia. Under demonic influence, General Butt Naked fought and killed while he was naked; he personally sacrificed men, women, and babies, and forced children to abandon their families and fight with him.

Then, in a radical transformation like that of Paul on the road to Damascus, Joshua met Jesus face to face. His mission now is to reach out to others who are under evil’s delusions and reform the lives of his former soldiers, enemies of Jesus Christ, and anyone in need of hope and love.

Joshua Blahyi’s incredible story has been told in documentaries on PBS, CNN, BBC, and other media including the New York Times. His story appeals to everyone interested in foreign affairs, Africa’s mysterious spiritual culture, civil wars, Christianity, and child soldiers.

Today, after a road to Damascus type conversion experience, he is Evangelist and Pastor Joshua Blahyi, ministering to ex-combatants, former child soldiers, and other victims of this brutal civil war. He also ministers to thousands in crusades throughout West Africa and serves as a pastor in a local church in Monrovia, Liberia.

In “The Redemption of An African Warlord” Joshua Blahyi begins by carefully developing the history background, and culture of the Sarpo-Krahn people, a warrior tribe who believed in conquest. As a child Joshua was trained to become a priest among his people; a people under the power and rule of Nyagheaweh, who was dominated by the devil and his demonic cohorts.

Within a short time Joshua Blahyi became the youngest and one of the most powerful warlords in Liberia. Empowered and motivated by demonic forces, he became feared for his reputation of terror, as he sacrificed men, women, and babies, and recruited children to fight with him.

In a blinding light, similar to Saul/Paul on the road to Damascus, Jesus appeared to Joshua, with a message of repentance. Joshua changed his allegiance from demonic darkness to the light of Christ; received forgiveness, regeneration, and restoration. He is now a testimony of the Light of Jesus Christ reaching out with the message of hope and love, redemption and renewal.
Joshua story is remarkable, a powerful testimony of the grace and power of God to change a life, overcome bondage to Satan, and use him to bring the message of Christ’s forgiveness and redemptive power to those “lost” in the darkness of evil in Liberia, Africa.
“The Redemption of An African Warlord: The Joshua Blahyi Story” will be of interest to everyone who has followed the troubled affairs of Africa, political, historical, and cultural. It will be of special interest to Christians with a prayer concern and World View of the expanding the Kingdom of God.

If anybody doubts that Jesus can reach anybody he wants, especially like the apostle Paul who was saul and jailed Christians, they should read this book and get mesmerized. God wishes no one perishes and the salvation of this former warlord proves it. God the Father can save anybody who wants to change their way of thinking and living from the devil's ways.

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful and revealing January 19, 2014

Just finished this book. The stories related are horrifying in the beginning. However, as I worked through hrough them, I felt I needed to press on. The depth of horrors are at there worst when he takes the life of a baby, explained in graphic detail. How could anybody forgive him these crimes. The good Lord is amazing in his power to forgive. From out of the pit of horror, the Lord chooses one of Satan's own, picks him up, dusts him off, and sends him into the world to bring the news of the Kingdom. I could not forgive the man the pain and suffering he brought on the people of his nation. Yet God does and uses his infamous past to put the man in a position to do astounding work. This book shows me that the Lord is working through his true believers to take his peace into the world. A must read if you are looking for peace in your life. It is a live illustration of the Lord at work to bring freedom in our lives. It shows that freedom is not given by people, but bestowed upon you when you truly believe in Jesus Christ as your saviour. Good news for all the people.

One way for a small group of people to overcome a larger and better-equipped fighting force is to strike fear and horror into their hearts by acts of unspeakable savagery, such as by dismembering a small child and eating the heart, then driving into battle naked, with hideous wigs and warpaint. Such were the practices of Milton Blahyi, more widely known as General Butt Naked, in the Liberian civil war, as described in this autobiography.

Milton Blahyi was designated from birth to become the chief priest of an African tribal god, and he took up the position at the age of 11, apparently requiring him to have nightly audiences with the god and make monthly human sacrifices. Blahyi’s reputation as a priest grew to such an extent that he became an advisor to Liberia’s president Samuel Doe, who was from the same Krahn tribe as Blahyi.

The book provides some interesting insights for those who wish to understand more about the role of animistic beliefs in the civil war that devastated Liberia in the 1990s. Although the author intended the book as a testimony to his new faith, it is primarily about his life as a priest and the acts of unspeakable barbarity in which he engaged before his conversion. The courage of the Christians who witnessed to him is described, but the message of Jesus is not explained, and non-African readers are unlikely to find the author’s story credible.

Very informative book delving into the spiritual realm of demonic worship. It confirmed some things that I always thought, but wasn't really sure about. Now I know for sure along with quite a bit more information. Also it confirmed the power of Almighty God.

5.0 out of 5 stars Redemption of an African Warlord by Joshua Blahyi” September 26, 2014
By H. Moon
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Redemption of an African Warlord by Joshua Blahyi is an eye opening book revealing the slippery slope Satan has over areas of land, governments, leaders and how he uses willing puppets.

Joshua Milton Blahyi is a dynamic man called by God to serve Jesus, after spending fourteen years in the kingdom of darkness.

This book was written to expose the deeds of the kingdom of darkness and to reveal the awesome power and tangibility of God’s love to humankind.
As an African Warlord, Joshua Milton Blahyi was responsible for the deaths of many including women and children. In error he believed he was destined to this task given to him by the god, Nya-ghe-a-weh. God in his mercy also set in motion events to bring this man Blahyi to his senses and to save his soul. ~ ~ ~

The influence of Satan is hidden, but is actively working behind many governments, leaders in high places, entire nations, certain areas of land, Wars, terrorist attacks, and even within businesses, families and marriages.
Our enemy the devil has a demonic organization and structures he sets up to rule and reign; as humans give their permission to be used by Satan’s many lesser gods.
Once permission is granted, Satan has the legal right to possess and use these individuals and their domain.
Those persons who are agreeable to be used in this way, will at times become possessed with unusual abilities but are often required to provide human sacrifices in exchange for this power.
As we begin to understand the unseen world of demon powers, it gives us insight on how to pray for our own country and leaders.
