5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book about redfish May 30, 2007
By Melanie
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I bought this book for my husband because redfish is one of his favorite fish to catch...but he had only been moderately successful. He said this book was wonderful and very informative...the best he's read on this subject. I should add that after he read it he went out and immediately caught two redfish; because I bought the book for him I think the credit should go to the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oldy (Maybe), BUt Goody September 8, 2010
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
This book was written in 1992, and as a result, contains some information on obsolete equipment a few locations for fishing. However, the fundamentals of redfish haven't changed that much. For example, the fish still follow the same lifestyle and still exhibit the same feeding patterns. This book covers that in great detail, so it is still relevant. Also, the book does not try to be hip or cool in order to entertain, but is still very readable. Being new to redfishing, I found this to be a very useful book that helped me catch fish straight off the bat. I would suggest it as an intro to anyone who is new to the pursuit of this fine fish. Get it and enjoy.

2.0 out of 5 stars I am disappointed. July 23, 2011
By Jeffrey
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
For the most part I have to say that I am pretty disappointed with this book.

The positive: The author does a good job of discussing how to fish different presentations for redfish.

The negative: I wanted to learn more about how to find redfish. I would like to have seen discussions of the following: the life cycle of the redfish and how redfish are affected by seasons, time of day, tides, moon phase, water depth, how to read the water, etc, I expected more!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for Beginners! May 13, 2008
I bought this book for my boyfriend, and he has just recently picked up Red Fishing (he mainly did Bass Fishing, but wanted to try some Saltwater fishing too). He pretty much learned everything on his own, and the book only confirmed what he was able to find out for himself, but he was happy to know he was going in the right direction. Also has some great recipes in there too!

1.0 out of 5 stars Rudimentary at Best September 14, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The techniques offered were very basic...anyone that has fished in saltwater already has the knowledge that was presented in this book. I think I became a worse fisherman just by reading it.
