4.0 out of 5 stars SAMPLES Review February 19, 2010
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I knew this was a sample when I "bought" it. Here are my thoughts on the CONTENT, which I thought a review was - comments on the CONTENT of what you read. I worked in a bookstore for over 3 years, loving every minute of it. I have been an avid reader my entire life, and I would give recommendations to shoppers - who came in later to tell me how much THEY enjoyed what I would suggest as good reading.

All 3 samples are very good. They are well written, the characters are thought out, the action/plot flows, and these are books that, when they are released, I plan to purchase. I read for enjoyment, pure and simple. If a book can hold my interest, it is definitely worth what I pay.

I give this "book" 4 stars because it is a sample.

4.0 out of 5 stars Well written, next the full book February 22, 2010
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I knew when I downloaded it I had a sample, but forgot between then and reading it. So, reading it on night shift without internet or cell phone capability, I was well into the story and hence disappointed once reminded i had a sample. Now, two days later, I will buy the book because I want to know what happens with the characters. Therefore, well written books, enticing characters, interesting thesis on each, and a sufficient sample size will take me to that point where buying the book will happen. Whatever the reader may believe about reincarnation, for example, juxtaposing a true believer with a staunch non-believer who is experiencing events that strongly suggest prior life memories is a powerful tool. Who will prevail? We will all have to read the full book to find out.

1.0 out of 5 stars Off the iphone February 23, 2010
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Before reviewing, I would like to mention that I would appreciate if test/partial releases would be clearly marked in the product description. I was settling down for a nice long read in a rainy yurt and got 3 chapters.
I only read the chapters of the first book and I thought it flat: When I was a kid, I was a big fan of 'Ben Hur' and 'Quo Vadis' with pretty vivid descriptions of ancient Rome and those were really lacking. I also didn't buy the passion of the hero for the priestess... it just sounded to much like bodice-ripper lust to me, not deep-felt emotion.
The other thing is that if those 3 chapter were supposed to foreshadow the other, following books, they did not do their job for me -- I was not even interested to read the other test chapters.
Overall, I think the concept of sampling didn't work for these books.

PS: If I would have had the entire first book as a freebie, I might have felt differently, since many books need some time to get going and the reader needs to get used to the style of the author. From several experiences I know that complete books get a better hook into me and I am even willing to pay the later books of the series...

5.0 out of 5 stars Good stories February 20, 2010
By VB
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I rated this sampling with max stars as the stories were good! Had it been the real book, which I thought it was, I would have continued reading. I was dismayed to find it a sampling of 3 books. Boohooo. Would I go out and buy the books? No.

If you are interested in this genre, read the sample. Author is a good writer. Story is good. The come-on to d/l a freebie was misleading.

1.0 out of 5 stars SAMPLER FAIL December 28, 2012
By MLove
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I'm a sucker for free stuff. To be honest, that's the only reason why I downloaded this book. I really did not read the synopsis and, as such, I missed the disclaimer that this was a sampler. It's only now, that I went back to Amazon to say that this book sucks that I found out that it is a sampler. This made me re-think my assessment of the book. Does it really suck? And after a day of re-thinking, I feel that it still does. Looking back to what I've read so far, I am not moved to find out how the series would pan out. Thus, this fails as a sampler. A sampler, in my opinion, should be powerful enough to make you want to buy the full book. And this sampler, does not do that for me.

However, I would not discount the fact that people have different opinions. If you happen to download this sampler and end up with the same opinion as mine, then please do not think that I did not warn you.

4.0 out of 5 stars samples show writer has potential June 18, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Each of the three samples in the download were well edited. The storylines were interesting and a start on fleshing characters showed well. I am unsure (by reading samples) whether the fulls would be stand alones or not. But, appears so.

Based upon the preview here, I will pick up one of the full length and check it out. This samplings was good advertising for author to date.

Recommend getting this free or downloading samples first so one can decide for self. But, I recommend at this point.

4.0 out of 5 stars The reincarnationist series March 2, 2014

Do we have past lives? If so can they affect our present lives? These books seem to look closely at those questions- I look forward to reading full versions.
