Eve Vaughn is an excellent story teller; I usually don't like reading books about women with low self esteem, but Eve hooked me with this one. The heroine, Chastity overhears an unflattering conversation about her appearance and lap dog devotion to her boss Sebastian. I agree that this book was hot, but come on...things just happened much to quickly between the characters. The falling in love...the forgiving...the makeover. I would have preferred some hesitation, some struggle with the makeover. Instead we are suppose to believe that Chastity has a makeover and her boss becomes so hot for her upon seeing her in her new garb and hairstyle that he has to "release the pressure" in his office. How does a granny-dressing, coke-bottle glasses wearing, rarely pleasured woman suddely turn into a sex-kitten who is so wanton that she is bold enough to go into a men's room stall and have sex with a man...during the lunch hour. I want THAT makeover. We are asked to suspend reality in a very big way with this book. I would have liked more detail, particularly with the makeover, I think that would have been a hoot to read (two gay men and one hot mama taking Chastity shopping-Funny). More character development would have been great also. After all, how many times do we need to read how hot the characters are for each other? Those additions would have added greatly to a fun and sexy, albeit, short read.

A question to my fellow BW/WM interracial fans: Have you noticed the increase in "love" scenes featuring a certain tabu sex act? What is that about? The last four book I read had at least one scene of it in each book. Perhaps the authors should be more concerned with writing a good story instead of depending on nothing but titilating scenes to sell books. But, that's just me.

3.0 out of 5 stars Quick, Enjoyable Read, April 1, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I actually enjoyed this book in spite of three things that bothered me:

1. There was a particular sexual act which I think belongs more in erotica than in books listed as romance.

2. The constant dialogue that deals with people acknowledging how jealous they were of each other. Something about the conversations involving Chastity, her best friend, and her mother, all just seemed unrealistic and silly to me.

3. She has a makeover and bam! the hero falls in lust and then realizes he was probably a little in love with her all along. Something about this part just seems extremely forced.

Otherwise, I liked Chastity. I liked the depth that the secondary characters added (they never over powered the storyline). I recommend this book.

The heroine, Chastity overhears an unflattering conversation about her appearance and lap dog devotion to her boss Sebastian. With the help of two outrageous friends, she decides to teach him a lesson on love. The new sexy Chastity has Sebastian standing on his head to get her into bed. Chastity doesn't make him wait long, which leads to many hot love scenes.

3.0 out of 5 stars Math Problem, January 4, 2011

This review is from: The Reinvention of Chastity (Kindle Edition)
This book was ok. My problem, and maybe this is nitpicking, was with the hero's and his mother's ages. She was pushing 50, but looked 35. No problem there except that her son is 36. So, his mother was at most 13 when he was born? I know it happens, but come on. Other than that it wasn't a bad story.

3.0 out of 5 stars Half & Half, April 12, 2010

This review is from: The Reinvention of Chastity (Kindle Edition)
I found parts of this book that I enjoyed and parts that I did not enjoy. I thought Chastity was highly irritating and cruel. Sebastion did not personally do anything to Chastity that warrant revenge. She shouldn't have been eavesdropping on a personal conversation. It was her choice to be the "outstanding" employee. Sebastion came off very sexy to me and I wish he wouldn't have forgiven her so quickly. Overall, I felt the story line and characters were underdeveloped. The book had much potential but it lacked depth. I can see that this book may appeal to many readers but it did not fully deliver for me. Three stars for effort.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book, March 17, 2010

This novel has becomen one of my fav romance novels. The main character Chastity is easy to relate to as well as her crazy mother. The storyline was very realistic and not heavy on the Ebonics as a lot of interracial romance novels are. The book was very well written and the dialogue was impressive throughout the book. Lots of great one liners and come backs. The passion scenes are VERY graphic but it doesn't take away from the pure romance found throughout the book, it actually made it more worth reading. It goes further where a lot of romance novels won't go. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and will be searching for more books by the author.

5.0 out of 5 stars Revenge Not So Sweet, April 11, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I really enjoyed this story, but it is definitely not the up tight, prudish or faint of heart reader. The dialogue is graphic and the love scene are explicit, but the book comes with a warning so readers shouldn't be surprised.
The story starts out with Chastity overhearing a conversation her long time crush Sebastian has with his partner. Her feelings are hurt, but its a wake up call. With the help of her friend, Chastity receives a much needed makeover. She gets more than a new look. She also has a new attitude and more outward confidence. Chastity sets out to seduce Sebastian so she can dump him out of revenge. Little does she know the real man is much more than perceived him to be.
Sebastian has always viewed Chastity as the boring, docile, frumpy paralegal, with the sweet attitude, who has such a major crush on him she is willing to do anything he asks of her. He is forced to look at her differently after her makeover. She is not only gorgeous but she is no longer fawning all over him, in an attempt to get his attention. He finds himself attracted to her, but he also misses her attention.
They give into their attraction and begin a no strings attached affair. The only problem is now Sebastian wants more.
Chastity realizes she no longer has a crush on the man she thought Sebastian was, but she has feelings for the true man she knows him to be. Her fear is that he couldn't possibly feel the same way. She believes he will eventually get tired of her and move on. We get a little insight into the reason for Chastity's low self-esteem, when we are introduced to her mother, Brenda. It always amazes me how people feel they can say whatever cruel thing they want, as long as they claim they are doing it through love. Chastity pushes Sebastian away due to her fear and since they both fear rejection, it seems like they are destine to live without each other or are they?
I really enjoyed these characters and this story. This is the first book I have read, by Ms. Vaughn, but it definitely won't be my last.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very sexy erotic romance!, November 3, 2008
THE REINVENTION OF CHASTITY was not what I was expecting...in a very good way. Since this was an erotic office romance, I was expecting the usual office antics: a little running around a desk or two, hanky panky in a supply closet, some hot sex in the company parking lot. What I got was much more.

I'm always down for a good revenge plot, so that alone had be hooked. Then the sex scenes themselves were completely nuclear. For someone who writes erotica, even I had to blink at some of the sex acts. Again, that's a good thing!

If you're looking for a hot interracial erotic office romance, you have to check out this book.

WARNING: This is an erotic romance. The sex is very explicit. If that's not your cup of tea, pass on this book.
