When I had to read this book in High School I found it excruciatingly BORING.
The lyrical prose of Hardy, combines with the incomparable voice and performance of Alan Rickman, to make this a genuine treasure.
Not only is the book a classic I read many, many years ago while in college... but it's one of the better "gotta read" stories.
