Product Description

Combining richly dark humor with gripping family drama and intricate plot twists, the masterful final season of The Riches is as thrillingly original as television gets! Itinerant con artists posing as a wealthy suburban family, the Malloys are stealing the American dream, but their elaborate ruse may be stealing their very souls. Facing near-certain detection, the family is torn asunder as Dahlia (Minnie Driver) and the children hit the open road, and embattled patriarch Wayne (Eddie Izzard) remains in Eden Falls, desperately scheming to pull off one last impossible con, so his family can stop running-forever.

5.0 out of 5 stars I'm seriously pissed off February 27, 2010
Is THE RICHES the best TV series of all time? Possibly. But we'll never know because someone pulled the plug way too early!

Wayne and Dahlia Malloy are right up there with Rhett Butler and Scarlett O'Hara. Passionate, volatile, Irish. Devoted to their children (in spite of the fact they've raised them to be con artists.) A classic love affair.

I won't describe the plot. Just watch the DVD's. I'll just say it's cruel to release a season and a half, then nothing. In the last episode, things are just starting to get good. There's so much promise of family confrontations, business and political intrigue, moral dilemmas, and the battling of personal demons. This story was set up like a Shakespeare play. But now we are deprived of the pay off. And I'm upset.

Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver had roles of a lifetime here. But I also thought Gregg Henry (as the boss) and Todd Stashwick (as cousin Dale) were exceptional.

I'm a fan of Nip/Tuck, Desperate Housewives, Six Feet Under, The Sopranos, Oz, and many other progressive dramas. But I liked this better than all of them. But someone killed it. And I have nothing more to watch. Is anyone else upset about this?

I would have watched this for years.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Soldier Down....... December 22, 2008
**UPDATE** 3/25/09

I received The Riches Season 2 yesterday and I marathoned all 7 episodes. The packaging has changed to a regular dvd case with 2 double sided discs?!?! The first season set included 4 episodes to a disc so I'm not sure what the double sided nonsense is about. Prepare to be angry/gutted/disappointed when the seven episodes are over, I know I was! Long live The Ri˘hes!!

Great actors, great scripts, great tv....makes sense it got cancelled! Personally I am quite angry this was canned, The Riches was fast becoming one of the best shows on tv. I was excited to see where the story with Eamon Quinn was going as Wayne (or Doug) had yet to have any real challenge intellectually (Dale wasn't to hard to control was he). I will personally give Eddie Izzard money to make a movie!

We need a conclusion.

5.0 out of 5 stars SHAME ON YOU! ... June 28, 2011
...whomever canceled this show, you should be fired for lack of vision and culture! Judging by the typical TV lineup, if it's not a cop drama, idiots being videotaped in exotic environs, or some other slapstick comedy-laden time suck, then it isn't worth air time. This is a fantastic show with a believable cast that breaks the mold of predictably lazy writing. A family of gypsies blunders into good fortune at the cost of another family's life. They take on the roles of the deceased and add their own flair to a neighborhood of rich wackos. The characters are fleshed out gradually and the acting reinforces the story elements because we feel their pain, fear and motivation. New dimensions are constantly added to each character and situations change in a heartbeat. Everything about this show is pure gold. I was very sad when the last episode left me with the biggest set of heartbreaking cliffhangers ever. So many different sub-stories: Relationship of Nina and Dahlia, Quinn and Cal, Cal and the blonde gypsy, Sam and his new girl friend, etc. Please bring this show back!

Still one of the best shows I've ever had the pleasure of watching. Hopefully some other network will pick it up and continue to produce it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great start for the 2008 Season April 8, 2008
Format:Amazon Instant Video
First, thank you to the folks at FX.
Not only do you continue to deliver top notch programming for grown-ups, but you also make the seasons to work counterpoint to the other networks, allowing us to watch something other than reruns for more of the year.

As season two begins, the moral dilemmas multiply and the plotlines are even more intriguing. Wayne, Dahlia and the two younger kids decide that they like being upper-class and decide to try and keep what they have despite the mounting risks.

In another thread, the Travelers also begin to play into the plotline again. Oldest Malloy son Cael decides for good that the house at Eden Falls is stealing his soul, and opts to run away back to the Travelers, who have a new college educated (from prison via (University of Phoenix) spurting his mail order philosophies in order to take control of the clan).

The new season is finding more moral and legal dilemma's for Wayne/Doug having to lie to his family and more issues with his less than bright adversary Dale. On the side of that, Dahlia decides she doesn't want to be liar any more finds herself lying to the people she loves most.

This show continues to be very good mature audience only entertainment, but not for those who are easily offended, but really you should watch this show from the pilot forward to enjoy it thoroughly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Will we ever know what happens? November 22, 2008
Format:Amazon Instant Video|Verified Purchase
The Malloys (the Riches) just dig themselves deeper and deeper - and then the show is cancelled! I hope they do make a movie just to tie up some of the loose ends. I always like to know how things turn out, and the story really makes us care about Dahlia and Wayne, Cael and DiDi and Sam. And what about Nina and Mom? Please tell us!

5.0 out of 5 stars Loved it! Can't Get Enough August 10, 2013
Format:Amazon Instant Video
Watched the first season pilot on Amazon Prime, and ended up watching 11 hours one day then finished the whole 2nd season the next day. Fantastic. Except the ending. But wow, as if I wasn't already impressed with izzard, this made me an addict. Minnie did the most amazing acting I've ever seen her do. And the youngest boy Sam made me fall in love with the writers and of course the actor. Excellent. I need more please!
