From the Back Cover

The protagonist Eddie, drawn to a charismatic addict, finds himself in a world ruled by substance abuse. He navigates this realm of 'the good people,' or riffraff, whose addictions to methamphetamines and crack cocaine entirely dominate their lives.

About the Author

Travis Moon is a writer residing in an old Gold Rush town at the base of the Sierras. Before settling down he travelled extensively, pursuing a writer's life after dropping out of college. He studied philosophy then and, in his writing, he hopes to convey how each of his characters is trying to answer philosophy's central question: how should we live our lives?

More About the Author

I have pursued a writer's life, at least at those times when it has not pursued me. I've waited tables, bartended, assembled circuit boards, sorted tax returns for the IRS, inspected stone fruit for the USDA, trained as a nuclear reactor operator in the US Navy, hustled memberships as a telemarketer, and participated in a variety of other legitimate occupations, and an additional score of the more illicit variety that I've chosen not to list.

I've written a handful of novels since dropping out of college. I studied philosophy back then and was soon convinced that the university I attended was not adequate preparation for writing the Great American Novel. I now run a family dining chain restaurant in the Sierra Foothills, in some small town of California Gold Rush fame. It is so small in fact that it is listed on Wikipedia as having served no real purpose even since the Gold Rush ended.

As for publishing, I've focused much of the last few years on placing my poems in small press magazines. I've had some success in these endeavors, but I am looking to find an audience for my fiction.

In the spare time that I wring away from work, and from writing, I also paint. One of my pieces is forthcoming in a university arts journal, and a few of my other favorites will serve as the cover art for my forthcoming novels. I also carve, usually abstracts, animals, or faces, and always from what driftwood my two black labs and I discover on the shores of mountain lakes and rivers.

And so I'm off now, to take a dip in the lake just above the mountain pass, with my boys, and the dogs, and afterwards to sit on the shore. Sure, I've got to find some time for reading, too.
