About the Author

Tim Fox is a native of Little Rock, Arkansas where he works, writes, and steadfastly maintains that he is not complaining, he is merely pointing things out. Frequently. He gives comic books the credit for much of his early vocabulary. Tim says from comics it was a small step to reading myths of all shapes, sizes and pantheons. Whether T.H. White’s or Sir Thomas Malory’s version of the Arthurian legend, Edith Hamilton, C.S. Lewis, or the nonpareil J.R.R. Tolkien, he loved it all. It wasn’t until Tim was introduced to Joseph Campbell’s The Hero With A Thousand Faces that he understood the common denominator of his favorite stories. Whether true myth or the fiction of Robert Louis Stevenson, Victor Hugo, and Alexandre Dumas, they all contained the character archetypes and narrative structure of the hero’s journey. He also enjoys reading courtroom mysteries. As Tim has learned first-hand, real-life legal cases have unexpected twists and turns, and the Law has some unique words with unusual meanings, so he finds a good legal drama riveting. Tim describes Ring, as, “a legal thriller meets Joseph Campbell. Well kind of, if you turn the hero’s journey a little sideways; strike the hero with lightning, have him fall in love with someone who tries to poison him, and then jack his life up a little more.”

I'm a native of Little Rock, Arkansas where I work, write, and steadfastly maintain that I am not complaining, I am merely pointing things out. Frequently.

Comic books deserve the credit for much of my early vocabulary. From comics it was a small step to reading myths of all shapes, sizes and pantheons. Whether T.H. White's or Sir Thomas Malory's version of the Arthurian legend, Edith Hamilton, C.S. Lewis, or the nonpareil J.R.R. Tolkien, I loved reading it all.

I also enjoy reading courtroom mysteries. As I have learned first-hand, real-life legal cases have unexpected twists and turns, and the Law has some unique words with unusual meanings, so I find a good legal drama riveting.

The Ring can be described as, "a legal thriller meets Joseph Campbell." Well kind of, if you turn the hero's journey a little sideways; strike the hero with lightning, have him fall in love with someone who tries to poison him, and then jack his life up a little more.

Format: Paperback
It is not a 'must' recommend, it is an 'already' recommended to many; my mother being the first who surpasses me in reading which is hard to do. This novel is everything I did not expect it to be and I mean that positively. When the Defendant is initially introduced I had thoughts that this would be an elusive read but I was disproved early on. There are very few fiction books that spark my interest, I am much a non-fiction personality involving facts and even then I want facts to back up facts. And if you would have ever mentioned that there was Mythology involved I would have snarled my nose and respectfully said "No thank you".....until this book fell in my hands. I could not put it down in a literal sense. Previously mentioning the term enthralled does not even sum up how wrapped I was in 'The Ring of Truth'. It was the perfect storm of history, sci-fi(Mythology) if you will, legality and thriller with yes, romance intertwined in every step. This book will have you internet searching to see if the next chapter per se is available anywhere. Come on Tim, let the next novel not be far behind.......!
Sincerely- A very, very pleased reader

I couldn't put it down. The chapter organization and character development is masterful -- it creates a level of intrigue that makes you want to keep reading to find out who the heck is this character and what the heck is he up to. The Ring of Truth is a perfect blend of legal thriller, science, history, and mythology, intertwined with human nature and the complexity of relationships. I like to think of it as a John Grisham novel meets Harry Potter meets The Da Vinci Code. You will be glad you invested your time with this cast of characters. And you will be wondering what Flash is going to do next.

Great first effort by the author, who has delivered a distinctive work that combines the legal intrigue of John Grisham, the religious mythology of Dan Brown and the quirky characterizations of Carl Hiaasen. I read it right through and am now eagerly waiting for the next installment of attorney Ulysses Nascar "Flash" Stephens and his three brothers.

I know Tim personally, so I threw him a bone buying his new book. After all, he needs the money. (Kidding Tim!) But shockingly (again, because I know Tim), this was truly a fantastic first book. I read it straight through, as one does when engaged. His description of the book was dead-on, and other reviewers have described it very accurately, so I won't repeat, I'll just say that his plot was well-made, his characters well-developed and interesting, and the word play kept my brain entertained. I even learned a few new words. When he writes another, and I sincerely hope that he does, I will buy it like I buy from any favorite author. Yes, he's that good, and on his first try. Speaking as a hack advertising writer, all that's left is to get over my jealousy. Well done!
