I'm an unpublished author who is seriously considering going the e-publishing route. Kaye George's detailed how-to is written clearly and with an obvious understanding of a newcomer's concerns. THE ROAD TO SELF-PUBLISHING covers a wide range of information in a concise and easy-to-read approach. I would recommend this book to anyone considering self-publishing!

THE ROAD TO SELF-PUBLISHING is a nice overview for those, like me, who know little to nothing about self-publishing an e-book. I learned from it. The booklet (not a book) is one author's experience, given in a helpful, easy-to-read manner. Author also provides a list of helpful links, and her own email link for added help. Not everyone does that.
BUT...it is very short, only 19 pages on Kindle, including the first page that just has copyright info. The Smashwords info appears detailed enough to be useful. Less so about publishing on Kindle. As an example, she mentions there is no "help" in the KDP help files so she had to do a Google search..."for something like Amazon KDP that explains how to do it (I forget exactly)." Then goes on to say say she found something that explained what she needed. When I read a how-to book, don't want to read "I forget how but I got there" which, in essence is what is said. Since I'm just starting to research this whole phenomenon, the $.99 was okay to spend. Got my money's worth. If I was on the verge of self-publishing, I'd want more detail.
