From Booklist

Haymore’s second in the House of Trent series, after The Duchess Hunt (2013), takes up where the first book left off. Lord Lukas, current heir to his brother, the duke, is a dissolute rake with a mission to find their missing mother. He’s on the trail of Roger Morton, who may or may not have abducted her, and he hopes to be closing in on this slippery man. Also in search of Morton is Emma Curtis, whose family fortune was stolen by her late husband, a compatriot of Morton’s. If she can find Morton, she thinks, she’ll be able to find the money and return it to her father, thereby improving his frail health. When they learn of each other’s quests, Luke and Emma decide to join forces even though it means that they will be traveling and staying together. Slowly, the troubled Luke falls under Emma’s gentle guidance and starts to believe that true happiness might be his. Haymore continues her ongoing series about the hunt for a missing duchess in an installment that will leave her readers wanting more. --Pat Henshaw

PRAISE FOR USA TODAY BESTSELLING AUTHOR JENNIFER HAYMORE:

"4 1/2 stars! Top pick! Haymore's first House of Trent novel sets the bar for the series. Emotional, sensual and enchanting, this tale of forbidden love is a romance to savor. Appealing characters, a beautiful, unconventional love story and family dynamics--as well as deft plotting and depth of emotion--make this a keeper."—RT Book Reviews on The Duchess Hunt

"4.5 stars, HOT! Readers have been eagerly awaiting this sequel to Confessions of an Improper Bride, in order to finally uncover the truth about Meg Donovan's "death." Haymore creates a highly satisfying answer, drawing the reader in with wonderfully realistic characters, adventure, passion and unexpected plot twists while crafting another delightful entry in the Donovan series."—RT Book Reviews on Pleasures of a Tempted Lady

"With beautifully rendered characters, lush sensuality, and a riveting story line, this well-told tale puts a refreshing spin on both the hidden identity and classic reunion plots and gets Haymore's new series off to a delightful start."—Library Journal on Confessions of an Improper Bride

"Jennifer Haymore strikes a good balance of strength, sensuality, drama and intrigue in her characters...With enduring characters that exhibit strong chemistry, I very much enjoyed Ms. Haymore's unique, engaging style and look forward to reading the other books that are a part of this series."—www.fictionvixen.com on A Season of Seduction

"Each time Ms. Haymore writes a book in this series I think there is no way to top the one I just finished. I started this latest one and realize she has done just that and has proven to me how fresh this series can remain. The characters of Becky and Jack are so full of life and longing just trying to make the right connection between family, relationship and future happiness while figuring out who to trust with all their secrets. This is a wonderful story and while I recommend reading the 1st two it is not imperative as Jennifer Haymore is a magician at connecting the plot from one book to the next-- but trust me you will have to buy the first two, they are that good."—The Reading Reviewer (www.marygramlich.com) on A Season of Seduction

"Sweep-you-off-your-feet historical romance! Jennifer Haymore sparkles!"—New York Times bestselling author Liz Carlyle

"Jennifer Haymore's books are sophisticated, deeply sensual, and emotionally complex."—New York Times bestselling author Elizabeth Hoyt

" For jaded romance readers, Jennifer Haymore is an author to watch!"—New York Times bestselling author Nicole Jordan

I'm not usually a fan of historical romances but for some reason I really like this particular series. This author has such a nice writing style and has created a very engaging story with characters that you can't help but get attached too.
Book one... The Duchess Hunt... was probably one of my favorite books in this genre so book two was an easy addition to my reading list. And, I have to say that I loved book two even more than the first one. I have a soft spot for tortured heroes... especially those who have tender hearts hidden underneath layers of pain. Luke is a bad boy rogue, but that didn't stop Emma from approaching him for help to find the murderer of her husband. And, it didn't take long for the bad boy to be completely taken by surprise by this beautiful and brave woman.
Emma was just the medicine that Luke needed. She helped him unravel those layers of pain and realize that he was deserving of respect and love despite what he had been conditioned to believe. Through their time together on the hunt for the murderer of her husband and the kidnapper of his mother, the duchess, they grow to love one another and a passionate and "kinky" love affair ensues. I will admit that the kinky aspect of their love affair took me by surprise. It wasn't something I expected to see in a Historical Romance novel... and it made me giggle. And, it was definitely a surprise for Luke at her active participation and enjoyment in his intimate and kinky love making. I loved both of these characters and how well they fit together.
There is plenty of hot and steamy time in this book but it is also very emotionally engaging and has a very interesting story in the on-going search for the missing Duchess.

This is the second of the House of Trent books. It made me laugh a little and cry too. Again, a story line that I did not want to end.
This book is not for the faint at heart, it is loaded with Spicy sex. I am so looking forward to the third book. I hope you enjoy Jennifer's House of Trent as much as I have.

Lord Lukas Hawkins has the reputation of being a rogue, a rake and a scoundrel and is very fond of his ale and anything stronger, much to the chagrin of his family, especially his older brother the Duke of Trent. Emma Curtis also knows of the very handsome Lord’s reputation but Lukas is her only hope to obtain all she’s lost at the hands of another scoundrel. Dare she pledge an alliance that would prove beneficial to them both? Emma thinks so, because underneath the handsome package she senses there’s more than what this elusive Lord lets everyone see and she wants the chance to find out what Luke is hiding! Lukas is on a mission to find his missing mother the Dowager Duchess of Trent who mysteriously disappeared over six months ago supposedly in the company of Roger Manton, clues thus far has the trail leading to Scotland, Emma wanting answers and revenge for her husband’s murder has decided she needs to accompany him and presents him with a proposal of her own. Travelling together without a chaperone would damage Emma’s reputation so under the guise of being husband and wife they will cross many miles in the search for the truth. The truth for Emma however, comes with its own struggles and what she finds will change her life forever. Sensual and heartwarming the honesty between Luke and Emma will keep you riveted. Like Emma, after reading their tale you may change your mind about rogues, too!

One of her best. Excellent, well written, good characters, nice story line, different. Wish she had more out there, as I've read all her books. Steamy, don't buy if you don't like heavy romance.

Reviewed at Another Look Book Reviews

I am wow'd right now. I freaking love this series and this book, The Rogue's Proposal is only book 2! You could read The Rogue's Proposal as a stand alone book but I would not recommend it. There is an overall story that is carried forward and is probably going to last until the end of the series. It is not a heavy plot but it is the plot that will link these stories together.

Luke is what I would call my absolutely perfect lover. Note I didn't say perfect man; because he is not a perfect man. But oh wow he can set the sheets on fire. In fact I am willing to say that the intimate scenes between Luke and Emma are one of the best that I have ever in a historical romance (if ever). Their lovemaking was the perfect mix of erotic and mild bondage and complete love. Now don't go into this thinking that The Rogue's Proposal is a BDSM book and be disappointed because it is not. There is mild and sexy bondage which perfectly matched this excellent couple.

I know that the first thing I have reviewed is about Luke and Emma's intimate scenes (which were brilliantly written) but that is only a partial component of this amazing story. The majority of The Rogue's Proposal takes place on a carriage journey from Bristol to Edinburgh and all the way back to London. I loved it! The author, Jennifer Haymore takes the reader on a journey all across the United Kingdom. I was smitten with all the tiny inn's and the chilly countryside journey. Since it was only the two of them making this trek, you really got to know them well.

I adored both Luke and Emma. Luke is supposed to be a rogue and he is just so damn likable.
