I enjoyed this book very much. The woman in the book is a college professor and very pregnant. She falls for her "student" who is really an undercover cop. Still, she doesn't know and the moral dilema is interesting. The cop finds her extremely sexy and attractive which is a switch from the normal slim, leggy, perfect females in most of these romance books. In any case, I recommend it. It is a quick read and not educational in the least- but fun!

Note: Stand alone read. 4th book of The Precinct: The Taylor Clan series
My Advice, read the whole series starting with the first book, One Good Man.

GREAT READ! Exceptionally well written, great characters, believable dialogue, excellent descriptive imagery, and a sweet romance. The final confrontation is a little over the top, but it is still a plausible rescue and a sweet ending in the delivery room. HOWEVER, Josh and Rachel clearly cross the student/teacher ethics line before she learns he is a 28-year old undercover cop. It's troubling, but it plays to the strength of the storyline.

THE STORY follows undercover detective, Josh Taylor, posing as a student in professor Rachel Livesay's psychology class. Trying to navigate the tricky issue of student/teacher ethics and the politics of an unmarried professor's baby bump, they are caught between an angry student seeking retaliation, a menacing stalker threatening Rachel's baby, and Josh's undercover assignment to locate and shut down a meth lab distributing drugs on campus.

OVERALL, a compelling story. The reader feels Rachel's joy at being pregnant, her worries as an expectant mother, and her fears for her baby as she faces a menacing stalker. It is touching as Rachel begins to include Josh in her pregnancy and he discovers what it means to be a part of her life.

The TAYLOR CLAN SERIES includes One Good Man, Sudden Engagement, In the Blink of an Eye, The Rookie, Kansas City's Bravest, Unsanctioned Memories, and Last Man Standing.

You may also enjoy the complex characters and storytelling of N. Bruhns, A. Stuart, C. Ryan, or for sweet, funny, romances with and heart touching angst, try Susan Fox, Cara Colter, or E. Palfrey. For good mystery/crime writers you might try J. D. Robb, D. Stabenow, M. Ferris, S. Grafton, S. W. Albert, Gayle Wilson, Julie Miller or B.J Daniels.

Josh Taylor is known as the charmer of the Taylor Clan. He must try extra hard in order to make a name for himself without the help of his family name. He meets Professor Rachel Livesay while working undercover as a college student to find the distributors of drugs. Rachel has just started receiving threats towards her unborn child who is formed with the help of an anonymous sperm donor. Josh and Rachel become connected in more than one way as a result of their Professor-Student relationship as well as Josh's undercover work.

Their encounters went a little beyond the typical student-professor relationship which made me doubtful at times but viewed as a basic human to human relationship it was realistic. I didn't feel that Josh's charm was used to the extent or in the way I thought it would be, but his protectiveness and caring towards Rachel and her thoughts and feelings towards Josh made a very nice romance. The descriptions of Rachel's feelings as a mother and her experiences with the movements of the baby were described so well and were written beautifully. What made some of these moments even sweeter was how Josh was included in many of them and left him in awe.

Enjoyable Read!

The Rookie
Book four
The Taylor Clan
Julie Miller

This is so far my favorite book in the Taylor Clan series by Julie Miller. Rachel is a wonderful woman and Josh Taylor is so kind and sweet. He cared about Rachel in a way that she had never been cared about. He broke all her walls on how things are suppose to be. He is one those guys that I'd love to have around. I was little jealous of Rachel how she got to have Josh.

Josh Taylor is undercover as Josh Tanner a twenty-two year old student at the university. He has a mission find out who is the leader of a meth ring on the college campus. The only problem is his heart when he falls for his psychology professor Rachel Livesay. In doing so he is risking not only his promotion and job, but his life.

Rachel has been alone since her ex-husband started his first affairs a year or so after they married. She got divorced and after so long she decided to have a baby. She went to sperm bank instead of a guy and it was all going smoothly up until the last two months.

Rachel never meant to fall for Josh or even let him in on the trouble she was having with 'daddy'. However after one night in the parking lot almost being attacked by three her students things changed. She spent most of her time with Josh or thinking about him. She knew she couldn't be with him he was over the age limit of her to date by years her junior.

Josh refuses to leave Rachel unprotected and won't head the warning of his partner. He gets not just other cops to watch out for Rachel but his own brothers come to help. Mac shows up through out the book and Gideon Taylor shows up near the end when 'daddy' calls Rachel telling her he's going kill her 'boy toy' meaning Josh.
