5.0 out of 5 stars Lee Papa...Rudeness incarnate
I've been reading Lee Papa's blog for some time now, and have never failed to be impressed by his grasp of the issues or language. Nor has he ever failed to impress with his creatively colorful, but accurate, invective aimed at the subjects of his ire. In this volume, he brings that and more to a wider audience. An enjoyable, and eye-open read, but not for the easily...

2.0 out of 5 stars Hardly Worth Publishing
As far as high-spirited, partisan, discursive, informal fulminations go, this "Almanack" isn't the worst specimen ever... but it is also far from the best. There are a host of collections and curated compendiums of political writing that are far superior. I possessed a passing familiarity with Papa's blog ([...]), and was hoping that the effort inherent in publishing a...

Lee Papa has been writing his blog as The Rude Pundit for years, frothing at the Republicans' misuse of power, publicly wincing over Democrats' missteps. This book brings mostly new content to readers, with a bit of a biographical slant. His love for the state of Louisiana and the people affected by Katrina and BP comes out clearly in this volume, which is slightly less colorful in language than the blog.

The profiles of possible GOP 2012 Presidential contenders will date this book strongly, so I would have rather seen more original writings, but they are enjoyable nonetheless.

Overall, a great read for politically minded folks who don't mind a little real-world language.

This book is not for everyone (profane, very much to the left, political, etc.) but it is a hilarious read. Well done, Mr. Pundit!

Great book! Really! If you want to know what we progressives are thinking, but not able to say (because well, some of us have to keep our jobs) nobody can be a voice quite for us like his Rudeness. From the first page to the last, the power of the pen never stops. Please write more!

2.0 out of 5 stars Hardly Worth Publishing, December 5, 2011
As far as high-spirited, partisan, discursive, informal fulminations go, this "Almanack" isn't the worst specimen ever... but it is also far from the best. There are a host of collections and curated compendiums of political writing that are far superior. I possessed a passing familiarity with Papa's blog ([...]), and was hoping that the effort inherent in publishing a book might necessitate more focus and attention to quality control; alas, I was wrong. "The Rude Pundit's Almanack" is a slim scrapbook of miscellany, hastily assembled and easily digested. I finished it the day after I bought it. It was an impulse buy. I got a few chuckles here and there, but I can think of better ways to spend $17.
