What could possibly drive a pastor's wife to run away from home?

After years of frustration from life in a church fishbowl, Annie McGregor walks away from it all and boards a plane for Colorado. She has no way of knowing her college sweetheart is headed to the same cabin in the Rockies, terrified and gravely wounded. Their unexpected reunion couldn't have come at a worse time. Or could it? Bewildered that God would allow Michael Dean to walk back into her life, Annie pleads with Him to keep her heart true to her husband and her family. God answers her prayer, but in a way she would never expect.

Written by a former pastor's wife, Annie's story provides a rare look inside the family life of those in the ministry, particularly the unique pressures on those who marry men of God.

What readers are saying about The Runaway Pastor's Wife:

"I think it was about the best book I have ever read. It just had everything going for it."

"Runaway Pastor's Wife went beyond any expectation I could possibly have. It has the clear message of God's love with the page turning suspense of a John Grisham novel."

"I just finished this book and thoroughly enjoyed it cover to cover. This multifaceted story gives the reader a pretty full dose of intense drama, suspense, good vs evil, spiritual challenges and even a little romantic intrigue; all of which take an unexpected twist in the end."

"This was a very good book. Had a lot of drama & just when you think you have it figured out, it turns around again!! Awesome ....5 stars!!!"

"For me this book was hard to put down. Not being a very religious person I appreciated the lesson learned about God. I would recommend this book to ALL readers."

5.0 out of 5 stars I read all of the other reviews -------- October 6, 2011
By kacee
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Since others have explained what this novel is about, I will tell a little of what it isn't about. First, there is nothing about the paranormal involved. There are no ghosts, witches or vampires. No fortune tellers or seers. It is getting a little difficult to find novels that doesn't include these. For the review (s) that said that it was too unbelievable --- well that is why the vampire novels are so popular now -- people want to read about the <unbelievable.>

I think that the characters that the author succeeded in wanted us to like, I did like, and the villains --- I didn't like at all. The novel kept me interested until the very end. It flowed smoothly, and was easy to read, follow along, and understand. I am not an editor, but didn't notice any errors, and in fact I think that it was very well written. Debating whether to give it 4 or 5 stars, I decided to go with my own feelings about the book and gave it 5.

Since I depend much on other reviews, I seldom get a book that I don't like, so you will find most of my reviews are rated pretty high. I was entertained throughout the reading, and looked forward to my bedtime habit of reading before turning off the light for the night. I don't think that you will be disappointment if you chose to buy this ebook.

5.0 out of 5 stars Runaway with Her March 6, 2011
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
Annie McGregor is married to the love of her life. She's confident he feels the same way about her, but there's his job - as a pastor he's a husband and dad second as expected by certain unruly and truly annoying characters who attend his church. Chet and his cronies - I wondered if the author knew the same ones I did. I guess they're all over.

Annie's a good wife, mom, and Christian living through a personal crisis that's about to get worse - a lot worse. She takes a personal sabbatical and is terribly misunderstood by her mother, the press (oh yeah - mom is a media diva!), and Chet with his posse of the pious. I really did NOT like him. Not willing to explain anything to anyone, Annie heads for the hills - well, actually a mountain cabin - where she is confident she will find rest and renewal in her relationship with God. Instead, Annie discovers the greater purpose her retreat holds for two men. For one, there is eternal value. Two others come face to face with their eternal consequences.

The Runaway Pastor's Wife introduced me to characters I felt like I knew (both good and oh so annoying!), had me guessing, and ended with what I call an excellent "Goldilocks close" - it was just right.

What does a pastor's wife "with a past" do when it comes calling? When a man with murder on his mind arrives as well, who will be Annie's cavalry?

2.0 out of 5 stars Good Book, Felt Rushed Towards the End September 6, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
This started out as a really good book. It was so interested in knowing how Annie "finds" herself. I surely understood why and how Annie got consumed with the duties of a pastor's wife and she lost herself somewhere along the way. Personally, I don't think that I can just up and leave my family (especially with small children) to "go and find myself". I felt Annie was a little selfish; she could at least talked to David, her husband, face to face to let him know how she was feeling. I believe that she took the coward's way out.

I clearly didn't understand why and what Michael was running from. I know whom he was running from, but this one man isn't God. Michael's decisions lead him to what he had become...can't say that I feel sorry for him.

Here's where it got a little unrealistic to me...when Max, Annie's and David's son, went to look for this mother. (I don't want to give a spoiler, so I can't anymore on that subject).

I thought that the whole purpose of the book was for Annie to get some quiet time to herself to think and pray, but it turned into her being the "hero" for Michael. That really threw me a curveball. Annie stopped focusing on herself and started focusing on Michael and now all of a sudden, she has the answer (so unreal)!

I felt the ending was very rushed. Everything "unfolded" in the last 20 pages of the book. It was all tied up into one neat package. I guess the author had to tie it up somehow. I didn't believe it for a second! The facts about Christine and Max and how that all came together was a little too much for me. We didn't even get to hear Christine's take on anything. I felt that the book ended abruptly.

This book had the potential for being 5 stars. I really give it 2.5 stars because I get the message, but the way the book was written was a little unrealistic and unbelievable.
