Editorial Reviews

The Saddle Club comes together for the very first time - and you can be part of the fun too! There are only two rules for this club - first, you have to be totally crazy about horses! And second, you have to look out for your friends - especially since their overnight camping trip is filled with all kinds of troubles like trying to fit in, dealing with overprotective parents and the worst trouble of all - Veronica's tricks! Saddle up and join Carole, Lisa and Stevie on this horse-filled adventure where they find the best friendships a girl could ever hope for!

My mom bought me this movie in June of 2002. At first I didn't like it (I was more into Britney Spears), but in January of 2003, I started getting hooked to TSC! Now I'm totally obsessed with The Saddle Club! I'm also obsessed with the actresses in the movie!

The movie's about three girls, Stevie Lake (played by Sophie Bennett), Carole Hanson (Keenan Macwillaim), and Lisa Atwood (Lara Marshall). At first, Carole becomes an assistant vet, while Kristi (Kia Luby) is trying to get the stablehand to notice her, then Cobalt, Veronica's (Heli Simpon) horse breaks a leg from a jump and has to get put down. Then they hear that a foal is on the way. After that, Stevie's friend Tina (I'm not sure who plays her) come to town and stays at Stevie's house, while Lisa's auditioning for a play, and Carole's foal watching. Finally, Stevie and Lisa decide to foal watch too, and the foal, Samson is born.

If you're interested in buying Saddle Club merchandise, there's some sold on amazon. There's even more sold on shop.abc.net.au and all the CDS and singles are sold on shock.com.au I hope this review was helpful!

Although I do not have the Saddle Club Movie, I do get Discovery Kids and the Saddle Club is on it.This Show Rocks!!!I love it and watch it whenever i can. The cast members are back in action and just as good as the first movie. Any how... A girl named Lisa arrives at Pine Hollow on her first day of lessons,Her mom almost hits Comanche and Stevie and carole take an instant dislike to Lisa. Also the girls go on the long awaited Mountain Trail Overnight. But when they get back,a Tragic accident claims the life of Caroles favourite horse.A thoroughbred stallion named Cobalt who is owned by the snobbiest girl in Willow Creek. When Cobalt dies Carole quits riding. Will stevie and Carole befriend Lisa? Will Carole Go back to riding after Cobalts Accident? well I'm not going to tell you.If you want to find out...watch this movie

This movie is terrific! I love TSC (The Saddle Club) and I just happen to be their biggest fan! I have autographs I got in the mail from them including:

*A letter from Kia Luby (Kristi)

*An autographed postcard signed by Heli Simpson (Veronica)

*An autographed picture of Heli Simpson

*An autographed picture of Keenan Macwilliam (Carole)

*An autographed picture of Sophie Bennett

It's too bad I can't go to any of their tours since I live in America. It's also too bad I don't have an autograph from Lara (Lisa). Bye people who think their a Saddle Club fan when I know I'm one (including the Emily girl who says only Sophie can act when they all can and she doesn't even have a chance to be on TSC)!

This is the greatest series of books and dvds I've ever seen! I've read many of Bonnie Bryants amazing books that tell of the three girls, Lisa Atwood, Carole Hanson and Stevie Lake about their adventures at Pine Hollow, the perfect stable. I've also watched the first DVD about one million times this summer and last. Now this. This one tells about how the girls met, what it was like and going on one of their favorite trail rides of the year, The MTO. (Mountain trail overnight) It all starts when Lisa first goes to Pine Hollow and Veronica pretends to be her friend since Kristi is under Red's spell. Then Lisa accidently spooks Camanche, Stevie's horse, and Stevie hates her for life. Then, to make it worse, Lisa finds out that Veronica is up to something really bad. She's going to call her pager that Veronica slipped under Camanche's saddle. Camanche was acting up, so he spooked, but luckily Lisa saves the day. Then it's time for the MTO. The Saddle club meets a cute boy, Phil Marsten, whom Stevie has a crush on. But Veronica wants him for herself, so she pretends to get hurt on Cobalt, her beautiful stallion, but instead, Cobalt really does freak out and Veronica is left in grave danger. When the Saddle club finds Cobalt racing back to their camp ground, they worry. Is Veronica's trick going to lead her into disaster? Or is the Saddle club going to make it in time to save her? It's a great DVD. You can also catch the episodes on TV on Discovery kids!

The 'Saddle Club' is a modern version of Walt Disney's 1955-58 'Spin and Marty'. It is set in Australia and 'Pine Hollow' replaces the 'Triple R Ranch'. It has Stevie (Spin), Lisa (Marty), and Carol, the friends who call themselves the 'Saddle Club'. Both shows are hard to beat because a fantasy shared by most kids is to hang out with horses-ALL THE TIME. Instead of singing songs around the campfire, the girls are shown singing in a recording studio in the closing credits (which adds to the fantasy).

Both Saddle Club and Spin & Marty are little gems that kids will love until ages 11-13, secretly watch for another year, and then come back to in their mid-20's, wishing they were that age again. Most of the critical comments here are from kids who want to demonstrate to themselves that they have outgrown this stuff. I see little basis for criticism because 'Saddle Club' is pretty much up front about what it is and it delivers what it promises. If you don't want or need a straightforward story about the values of friendship, personal responsibility, and saddle club hugs; then don't watch.

While it is true that the episodes are somewhat formulaic, full of positive values, and almost always conclude with a mandatory happy ending; the plots revolve around some very serious subjects and bad things do happen to good people. Horses die, Carol struggles to come to terms with her mother's death, kids make mistakes that have serious negative consequences for themselves and others, and people that the kids are very fond of go away. It is not as lightweight as it first appears.

The show is amazingly strong on all areas of technical production.
