5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent thriller, an absolutely cracking read..., December 31, 2011

This review is from: The Saints Go Dying (Kindle Edition)
An excellent thriller, what a gem. It is one of those books that I had to read all the way through in one go. The writer managed to create an atmosphere of suspense, psychological tag and also the complete helplessness of the police system when it comes to ferreting out one serial killer in a city of millions. At the end I realised he had managed to do it without any over the top shootout, car chase or hang from the rooftop by the nail of your ring finger kind of action scenes. He created a need to know, a curiosity in the reader to find out what the main character would do next. I enjoyed the concept of having the cop be a computer nerd instead of a sweaty muscle bearing ex-marine with weapons hidden in his doughnuts. I thoroughly enjoyed the read, highly recommend it and look forward to the next installment I received a free copy of this book for my review.

4.0 out of 5 stars Okay I admit it!, October 10, 2011
This review is from: The Saints Go Dying (Kindle Edition)
I read this book without putting it down, not that it had a lot of action but just caught my attention. Beautyman is a different kind of cop, who loves his job and is willing to go to any extremes to catch a killer or killers as the case maybe. What would you do if you know who a serial killer was and didn't have enough evidence to made an arrest? If you are a Beautyman you use your hidden skills as a computer hacker and go to any extremes to make your case.

This was a good cat and mouse psychological drama that was entertaining and easy to read and follow without losing the suspense. The ending was very good and one that you would never ever expect would happen.

The only fault with this book was that I would have liked to know more of the personal back story about Beautyman, he was a very intriguing guy.

I would like to thank Mr. Hanberg, the author, for giving me a complimentary copy of his book. This copy was given to me with no obligation for a review but it was enjoyable and I do think it was a good story.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hopefully the beginning of a new series, September 26, 2011
This review is from: The Saints Go Dying (Kindle Edition)
I found this book quite "catchy". While in some parts I had to force myself to stop reading otherwise I wouldn't have gone to bed before work, there was a couple of parts that didn't seem to flow as well. Overall I felt that Beautyman was a great character, willing to do almost anything to catch the bad guys, but so much more human because he does make mistakes and takes the consequences humbly. Looking forward to more in this series.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for a review.

More About the Author

Erik Hanberg has been a writer all his life. Novels, screenplays, plays, even a stray poem or two.

Arthur Beautyman Mysteries

The Saints Go Dying (2010) and The Marinara Murders (2011) are about Arthur Beautyman, a computer hacker turned detective. While The Marinara Murders follows The Saints Go Dying, it stands wholly on its own, and readers should not feel they have to read the first book to understand it.

Nonprofit Fundraising

Based on his years of nonprofit fundraising and leadership, Hanberg published The Little Book of Gold, a fundraising guide for small (and very small) nonprofits.

When he was just 23, Erik Hanberg was hired to run a non-profit arts organization with an annual budget just over $600,000. Two years later, he had increased the budget to $800,000, and increasing fundraising more than 400%.

Since then he has worked in development at multi-million dollar non-profit, and has volunteered on many boards.

He is currently the Executive Director of a small civic non-profit and sits on the distribution committee for a foundation that gives away more than $200,000 a year.

He lives in Tacoma Washington with his wife Mary, where in addition to writing novels, he is a Park Commissioner.
