Editorial Reviews

What scientific principle do the Imagineers turn to when they want to make a splash? Fluid dynamics! In this DVD, the Imagineers demonstrate how they use fluids to their advantage in constructing rides and attractions like Grizzly River Run and The Seas with Nemo and Friends. Students will learn that a fluid is any substance that flows or moves easily due to its molecular make-up. They will also discover how fluid dynamics help us learn how fluids move and behave and how fluids can be used to create mechanical advantage. Each Imagineering DVD includes a bonus try-it-yourself experiment and an interactive assessment to reinforce key learnings, Public Performance Rights for classroom/educational use only, and a printable educator's guide.

Walt Disney believed, "if you can dream it, you can do it," and that belief is at the core of Disney Imagineering; the place where imagination meets engineering. Imagineers use science to create and build unique attractions that delight Disney guests around the globe. This award-winning series uses roller coasters, stunt shows, animatronics, and other irresistible examples to break down scientific principles in a way that is accessible for all learners. Just imagine what you could do if the whole world was your toolbox!

5.0 out of 5 stars Another great episode in this series September 15, 2009
The concept of each episode in this series is the same-- take a scientific principle, and show how the Imagineers use it in their day to day work. The difference is that their day to day work involves roller coasters, water rides, animatronics, and all kinds of other things that take kids from thinking science is boring to thinking science is a potential career. Bravo!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very Engaging DVD Series August 28, 2009
I cannot say enough good things about The Science of Disney Imagineering! I have been watching all 6 in the series with my kids and we are fascinated to see the science behind the magic of the Disney attractions. I recommend the series to anyone with children in grades 5 and up...it sure has sparked a keen interest in science for us! BTW - I see that 3 more are coming out in September - we'll definitely be in line for those!

5.0 out of 5 stars I might want to become an Imagineer August 27, 2009
After watching this DVD series, I'm starting to think that being a Disney Imagineer might be the best job ever. How great is it that they get to design and build all these different rides and attractions? I've never considered myself a "science person", but I'm realizing it's because I didn't know science could be this cool.

5.0 out of 5 stars I second that! September 3, 2009
After watching these DVDs, I think Boula-Boula is right--being a Disney Imagineer would be so cool. Where do I sign up?
