Most 5th graders do not have Biology Lab in school; my daughter is really into looking at things under our home microscope. Looking for more interesting this to view was becoming a problem. Viola! This kit has high quality (and easy to dissect) specimens. The kit is complete with all the things you remember from High School Bio Lab. Only small complaint is the odor of formaldehyde does come through the bag, even though it is packaged tightly with no leaks.

EDIT: The seller contacted me via email to clarify some things (and they were super nice). First of all, the preservative is NOT formaldehyde and in order to try to reduce odor it was suggested to use a dryer sheet near it until Christmas. So far no smell! Would TOTALLY do business with them again!

The kit was delivered on time with everything included from the description. The gloves come in a bag of 10 so it could be a group project with others. It would be helpful to have some guide cards for the dissection since there are so many specimen types. The dissection tool kit is high quality especially for the price. Materials including the base are durable enough to order more specimens and not have to keep reordering a new flex pad and tray. I would buy this product again.

I am glad I spent the money on this kit. All tools provided along with specimins. Also nice that there was a perserving agent to cut down on smell and fluids you might get by using "fresh" specimins.

Our 11 year old daughter has expressed interest in becomming a microbiologist and Biology is not offered until 7th grade. This kit was an opportunity to introduce her to dissection and collection of specimens to use with her microscope.

The kit contains nearly everything you would need and there was no odor from the specimens. The gloves are definitely meant for student age, so the adult assisting will likely need larger gloves. There are also not pins included, but a few sewing pins work fine. The dissection guides are very thorough and are a good walk through at a very detailed level. I would recommend looking online though for more visual diagrams to either print off or have available during the dissection especially for those who are doing this for home use.

The seller shipped this quickly and we were very pleased with the purchase.

We loved the kit. Our 10 yr old needed some assistance from his father. Although, we were disappointed that the specimens were very old so it made the body parts almost unrecognizable.

My daughter has taken an interest in biology, and as other parents have noted, it's not a subject in elementary school. Today we dissected the worm and found it to be of good quality and well preserved. No smell and we were able to find all the part we wanted to find. The scalpel was sharp and the probes, scissors and tweezers were of modest quality--what we expected at this price point. We are enjoying the kit so far and hope the company will come up with more in the future. We'd be buyers.

I ordered this for my grandson and it was received quickly and he is very anxious for us to start dissecting the specimens. I was happy with the equipment that was in the kit. Everything was included except for t-pins which are easily obtained. It made this 11 yr old boy very happy.

I was very impressed with the materials that were enclosed. The tools were of a good quality. The mat and tools will be useful for future lab activities. The only problem with my kit was the fish was too dry to really dissect well. The other specimens were very good and the students enjoyed seeing their book learning in the actual specimen.
