Amazon.com Review

Beautiful young widow Sara Lawrence has vowed to foil her brothers' plans to marry her off again. Her first marriage was a disaster and she's determined to pick a biddable husband who will leave her to her own devices. But her exasperating, adoring, and interfering five older brothers are determined to protect her. Sara is just as determined to choose her own husband, but possible candidates are few in Bath--until the scandalous Nicholas Montrose, the Earl of Bridgeton, arrives. Nicholas takes one look at Sara and wants her in his bed, but she clearly desires marriage, and wedded bliss is not in Nicholas's plans. Furthermore, Nicholas has set his sights on establishing respectability, while Sara doesn't care a fig if she scandalizes society. Despite their differences, he can't resist the lovely Sara and agrees to aid her in her search for a pliable husband. Sara's brothers are irate when they realize that Nicholas is squiring Sara about town, and when they catch the two in a compromising position, they demand that they marry. Will Nicholas give up his rakish ways for Sara and, even if he will, is Sara willing to marry a man whom she's sure will be possessive and worse, will surely endanger her vulnerable heart? Author Karen Hawkins has a way with witty repartee and this fast-paced battle of the sexes is Regency romance at it's best. There's nothing quite so much fun as a tale of a strong-willed woman taming a bad-boy hero. Don't miss this one. --Lois Faye Dyer

About the Author

Karen Hawkins was raised in Tennessee, a member of a huge extended family that included her brother and sister, an adopted sister, numerous foster siblings, and various exchange students. In order to escape the chaos (and while hiding when it was her turn to do the dishes), she would huddle under the comforter on her bed with a flashlight and a book, a habit she still embraces to this day.

Well written and a good story line.

If ever there was a story of what can happen when one loves another so deeply that indeed that love conquers all and everlasting love is found this is that book.

The plot was just too slow paced until the last hundred or so pages.

Karen Hawkins is an absolute master at writing stories that get your attention from the very beginning and hold it to the very end and the Seduction of Sara is a prime example. Sara is a widow who wants to get married and doesn't want the restrictions of a marriage, Nick is a rake who wants a place in society and a mistress but not the commitment of a marriage. When the these two get together the sparks fly. Nick tries to teach Sara the fine art of seduction in hopes of making her his mistress and Sara wants to learn the art of seduction in hopes of gaining her a pliable husband that will allow her to do as she wishes. Neither of them plans to fall in love with the other.
Ms. Hawkins hooks the reader from the very beginning and keeps the pages turning with humor, intrigue, passion, and unexpected suprises. I cannot wait until her next book comes out. Enjoy!!

What a great book! I laughed (the romance between the chaperone and the French count is hysterical!) and cried (Nick is SUCH a wonderful character and Sara really gets to him) throughout the entire book. This book is going on my Keeper Shelf right beside my Julia Quinn books.
Here's the story: Sara Carrington has had it with men -- especially her five hunky brothers, the St. Johns. They are determined that her wild ways since the death of her first husband, should come to an end. And to make sure of that, they intend to pick a new husband for her. But Sara's no wet noodle -- since her brothers won't rest until she's married, she decides to pick her own husband. Someone who will free her from her bothersome brothers and let her go her own way.
Enter Nicholas Montrose, the disreputable Earl of Bridgeton. Nick has a secret (which I won't tell you about here!) and while he is fascinated by Sara and more than willing to offer her a place as his mistress, he wants nothing to do with marriage. Time is running out for Sara -- her brothers are on their way to town and soon she'll be so closely watched that her dreams of freedom are about to disappear. Nick, seeing a prime opportunity, offers to teach Sara the art of seduction so she can quickly capture a husband. Sara agrees and the stage is set.
The sexual tension in this book is so thick you could slice it with a knife. And Sara and Nick together are a powerful testiment to true love. I sighed at the ending -- it was just perfect.
Ms. Hawkins writes with a flair and humor that few other authors offer. I LOVED this book and can't wait until August to read An Affair To Remember, which I think is about Sara's best friend, Anna, and Sara's brother, Anthony.
Don't miss this The Seduction of Sara -- it will leave you wanting to read ALL of Ms. Hawkins's books!

Format: Mass Market Paperback
In 1815 London widow Saraphina Lawrence wants her older brother Marcus to just leave her alone instead of telling her how to behave. Sara simply embraces life and does not care what the Ton thinks so she seems always one step away from scandal. Marcus wants Sara married again, as he believes a woman especially a female under twenty-five needs a husband to protect her. Sara was disappointed in her first husband because of his mistresses so does not want to go that route, but if she must she will choose a spouse that she can control.

Earl Nicholas Montrose has just returned from Paris with a goal of overcoming his reputation as a "bad boy" so he can attain social respect. However, when he meets Sara, his plan goes out the window, as he desires her like he never wanted a woman before. She wants to use him to teach her seduction, but knows he is not malleable, as is her requirement in a husband. Love enters the relational equation, leaving both bewildered and wondering what to do next.

Regency romance readers will appreciate THE SEDUCTION OF SARA, a battle royale between the sexes. The story line is amusing as Sara and Nicholas struggle with an unwanted attraction. The lead characters are a delightful duet whose disconcertion is exacerbated by caring interfering secondary characters. With this tale and its prequel (see THE ABDUCTION OF JULIA) the historical romance audience will recognize Karen Hawkins as a rising enchantress.

Based on the first two books in this series, I did not expect to like Nicholas Montrose, the Earl of Bridgeton even a little bit. It wasn't that he was a rake but more the he just seemed to be totally lacking in any true feelings for anyone or anything. But along comes Sara Lawrence and although he thought he would just seduce her for his mistress, she was not interested in that role.

Actually Sara was not interested in any role. Sara had already experienced one disastrous marriage to a faithless husband. She did not mourn his death at all. Now all Sara wanted was to be free and on her own. However after each encounter Nick and Sara seemed to have this electrifying connection and finally they give into their feelings and of course Sara is compromised.

Nick, trying to be more of a gentleman and work his way back into society agrees to marry Sara. Actually Nick is quite willing Sara is much more reluctant but they do wed.

There are the demons that plague Nick, headaches that capture the very soul of his being for days at a time. He is convinced that he will eventually die because of these headaches and is determined to never have children and to keep the lovely Sara at arms length. Sara of course is determined to have her love cure him from himself. These demons were the cause of much of Nick's lifelong behavior. One feels utterly heartbroken for him.

If ever there was a story of what can happen when one loves another so deeply that indeed that love conquers all and everlasting love is found this is that book.

Beautiful five star love story. Great ending to this trilogy.
