Review

Jim Goll has blessed the Body of Christ with a greater understanding of the prophetic voice of the Lord. He has given much biblical insight and personal experience that helps us understand the unique ministry of the Prophet and the Seer. Also, valuable guidelines and principles are given concerning how to discern a true word from the Lord and how to properly minister that word. This book will be a very valuable resource for those who desire to be used in prophetic ministry. ---Dr. Bill Hamon, Chairman and Founder of Christian International

Book Description

The prophetic movements in church history and in contemporary life are fed by two mighty streams: the prophet, whose revelation is primarily verbal, and the seer, whose revelation is more visionary in nature. While the role of the prophet is familiar, less is known about the seer dimension. To many people, these visionary prophets remain mysterious, otherworldly, and even strange.

This is the best book that I have read yet on The Prophetic or Seer Ministry and I have read many! If you want to know more about the Prophetic,Dreams,Visions,Open Heavens this book is for you. I seen almost all of the ministers that he mentions in this book and they are Powerfully Anointed men and women of God. I also seen James (Jim) Goll several times and he is definitely a seasoned prophet of God. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants a more intimate relationship in "The Secret Place" with the Lord and desires to be used by God. This book will teach you how to live in the manifest presence of God. Be Blessed!

This is an awesome book about the prophetic and the gifting of the "Seer." If you want to know the heart of God and what He is saying to His children in this hour, this book is for you. Once again Jim Goll has come through with the nuts and bolts. If you want to go to new levels with the Father you've got to have this book.

This is a must read for the CHURCH today. We know about many things, but The Seer is a hidden truth brought forth for this day. Many of us know that we can hear G-d but can we learn to See? Contemplative Prayer is a must for every believer (Chpt. 11). Another step for those that are chasing hard after G-d

As God has led me on an sight filled path since 2001 the difficult part has often been discerning, "What does this mean?" and "What do you want me to do?". Thankfully Christ has often carried me and kept my path in tune with His intentions despite my glaring imperfections. This and the spiritual fruit that ensues is what a relationship with God through Christ is all about.

Jim (who I am convinced deserves the spiritual name "William") does an excellent job of collecting together the many facets of the prophetic that help us 1) understand current day prophets and keep their words in perspective as they try their best to turn the pictures they see into words and 2) seek a relationship with God where he is at the steering wheel whether we receive these giftings or not.

I notice that Halo isn't as of yet capable of writing a positive review about any book concerning the prophetic and I urge others to ignore that review. Give grace like Christ to folks like me that are not perfect. Once you do that, you can begin to see the earnest hearts for Christ and his bride and the amazing work God his calling is "sons" to.

I personally am giving this particular book a 0 star. Why ? Because I believe some of the main premises of the author are lacking in both discernment and are also wrong biblically. My review is not an attack on the man or some kind of personal vendetta but more a questioning of what he teaches. In particular I found Goll's unconditional endorsement of certain "prophetic " ministries in "The Seer" very questionable. For example he states in the start of his book (which I actually read!) that the "role model" for a prophetic ministry/seer was in the ministry of Paul Cain. Yet this man was subsequently found to be involved in a long term alcohol abuse and homosexual lifestyle. I am not "casting another stone " at Cain ,we are all sinners. Rather merely stating that it speaks to Goll's discernment ability. That he so readily and publically promoted a ministry that is found to have later hidden in it, serious strongholds of darkness and deceptive acts. P.Cain actually initially refused to repent of his actions when found out. These are not the characteristics of a person operating in and being led by the Holy Spirit. Surely basic to any understanding of the prophetic is the foundational truth that we should not just accept any teaching or word that comes along. But closely examine or test , that it is, what it claims to be. 1 John 4:1 "Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. " Some other reviewers and defenders of Goll's book seem to think that this testing is somehow "sub-Christian". Yet it is a command given by the Bible itself . The testing of 'prophets" then is a necessary part of a true prophetic evaluation, but where was this in the book ?Read more ›

I am planning on getting this book and saw your negative review. Who are we to judge? Goll's prophetic gifts are from God, he cannot control what he can discern or not. Maybe God in his infinite wisdom decided to withhold Cain's struggles from Goll to prevent Goll from servering his relationship with Cain. Maybe God's plan was to keep Goll in Cain's life so that he can help him back to God. We cannot know what God's plans are or judge others. If this book has helped others (as stated in the other reviews)then that in itself is a gift from God.

If you have been confused about the gifts of the Holy Spirit and how they pertain to you - this is the book to read. It has present day application and is relevant to leadership and layperson alike. Scriptural and academically sound, this book has the potential to activate the members of the Body of Christ into the liberating operation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. This book contains self administered tests, guidelines and thorough explanations of the working of the Holy Spirit and His desire to communicate with His children. It is a captivating read. It delineates the differences and the operations of Prophet and Seer; and reveals the beauty of the Lord as it illuminates the path and opens the door to genuine intimacy.
