Book Description

November 25, 2008
Prophecies of a 19th-century German mystic who spent seven years suspended between life and death

•    Focuses on the mysterious “language of the spirits” that the seeress spoke and wrote

•    Contains a biography of the Seeress of Prevorst’s life and illustrations of all known examples of her spiritual script and diagrams

Known as the Seeress of Prevorst, Frederika Hauffe (1801-1829) was a German mystic and clairvoyant who was subject to convulsions and trances that caused her to remain bedridden from 1822 until her death seven years later. While in this state suspended between life and death, she received revelations from the spirit world about the triune doctrine of body, soul, and spirit, and she drew precise geometrical diagrams, often in complete darkness and with astonishing speed. The spirits of the dead were said to be in constant attendance on her and were even occasionally seen by others. Her most remarkable gift, however, was the ability to write and speak in what she called “the language of the spirits,” a unique coded alphabet that incorporated numbers and primitive ideographs.

Using his scientific expertise to decode her secret language and diagrams, John DeSalvo examines the life and revelations of the Seeress of Prevorst and her importance in light of spiritual development over the nearly two centuries since her death. Preceding the rise of Spiritualism by two generations, the seeress’s prophecies and teachings threw open the door to the spirit world. With one foot in each world, her life and work offer a portal into mystical realms as fascinating today as in her own time.

Editorial Reviews

Review

“John DeSalvo is one of the few minds on the planet that can comprehend a language of secrecy and reveal new meaning not apparent in normal language. His work on the language structure used by the Seeress of Prevorst represents a benchmark in Western esotericism.” (J. J. Hurtak, author of The Book of Knowledge: The Keys of Enoch)

“This book will intrigue and mesmerize all who are interested in those special people who have the gift of precognition, second sight, and true prophecy." (Jeff Rense, host of The Jeff Rense Program)

“In every generation there appears an individual with the ability to shed a greater light on the path of the seeker. The medium from Prevorst is such an  individual. The life and work of Frederika stretches the intellect, rationalizes the ancient teachings, and correlates them with modern spiritual thought. Her  knowledge of the ancient ‘spiritual inner language’ and of concepts both ancient and modern stands the test of time.” (Rev. Sharon L. Snowman, executive secretary, National Spiritualist Association of Churches)

“I believe this book will become a spiritual eye-opener to many, many people. John DeSalvo has brought the Seeress of Prevorst to life.” (Martin W. Stuart Ph.D., former professor of musicology, Grossmont College, San Diego)

"There is both beauty and tragedy in Frederika's life, and as a spiritual seeker myself, I am enriched by my knowledge of her short, tragic history." (Ochani Lele, author, Secrets of Afro-Cuban Divination, Obi, and The Diloggun, Dec 2008)

"Talk about an interesting book! I am always on the lookout for facts to back up amazing phenomena, and Dr. DeSalvo not only backs up his statements with facts, he answers your questions before you ask them. The result is a fascinating biography of a woman with extraordinary talents, one being like those of Edgar Cayce and Sir Oliver Lodge." (Shirley Lawrence, reviewer, Dec 2008)

"I have encountered no other Christian spiritual figure so inspiring to read about and learn about, not only because of her obvious spiritual achievements and wonderful communications about them, but also because her life story and insights are so unassailable that they become the standard for all Christian writings since the Bible. . . . This is a must buy!" (Paul Bloede, reviewer, Dec 2008)

"DeSalvo's book ranges widely in speculations and explanations regarding spiritualism, mesmerism, and magical scripts. It will be of great interest to people whose minds do not accept physical reality as the only truth and who are seeking answers to universal questions. They will join DeSalvo on his quest for more perfect understanding of the meaning of the life of the Seeress of Prevorst." (Barbara Bamberger Scott, Curled Up With a Good Book, Feb 2009)

"The author has provided us with a look into the life and times of the Seeress and speculations on the magical or angelic scripts that have been known as the Primal Language since Jacob and Enoch spoke to the angels. The precise diagrams will tickle the minds of numerologists and code-breakers alike. A feast for those who love an esoteric mystery tour." (Jennifer Hoskins, New Dawn Magazine, No. 119, Mar/Apr 2010)

Dr. John DeSalvo is director of the "Great Pyramid of Giza Research Association." His purpose in starting this association was to make available to the public general information and new research on the Great Pyramid and to post the work of pyramid researchers that may not have the opportunity to publish their work in the traditional academic journals.

He was featured in December in a "History Channel" special in the series called the "Nostradamous Effect." The episode was entitled "Doomesday Hieroglypyics.

A former college professor and administrator, his B.S. degree is in Physics and his M.A. and Ph.D. degrees are in Biophysics. He has taught the following subjects on the college level: Human Anatomy and Physiology, Biochemistry, General Biology, Human Gross Anatomy and Neurophysiology. His college administrative experience includes Cultural Affairs Director, Basic Science Department Head, and Dean of Student Affairs.

Dr. DeSalvo is co-author of the book "Human Anatomy - A Study Guide" with Dr. Stanley Stolpe, former Head of the Anatomy Department at the University of Illinois. He was also a recipient of Research Grants and Fellowships from the National Science Foundation (NSF), United States Public Health (USPH), and the National Institute of Health (NIH).

For over 20 years, Dr. DeSalvo was one of the scientists involved in studying the Shroud of Turin. Currently, he is Executive Vice-President of ASSIST (Association of Scientists and Scholars International for the Shroud of Turin), which is the largest and oldest research association in the world currently studying the Shroud of Turin. He was also a research consultant to the original STURP team (Shroud of Turin Research Project) and was the contributing science editor for the book "SINDON - A Layman's Guide to the Shroud of Turin." His Shroud research involved the image formation process of the man on the Shroud and studies using three-dimensional reconstruction, spectroscopic, and ultraviolet analysis. He has lectured nationwide on the Shroud and in 1980, the International Platform Association designated him as one of the top 30 speakers in the nation.

His book on the Great Pyramid and pyramid research, "Decoding the Pyramids" was published by Barnes and Noble in 2008. It is also available in French, Spanish, Dutch, Italian, Czech, and Estonian.

5.0 out of 5 stars A fascinating biography December 16, 2008

The Seeress of Prevorst *****
Her Secret Language
And Prophesies from the Spirit World
By John DeSalvo, Ph.D.

Talk about an interesting book! I am always on the lookout for facts to back up amazing phenomena, and Dr. DeSalvo not only backs up his statements with facts, he answers your questions before you ask them. The result is a fascinating biography of a woman with extraordinary talents, one being like those of Edgar Cayce and Sir Oliver Lodge. While Casey gave histories and cures for illnesses, the Seeress actually described the method used by spirit to attain the spiritual concept behind them.

I was particularly interested in the secret language of the not too well known 19th century German mystic, Frederika Hauffe (1801-1829) for several reasons. It is something that I experienced myself once in a vivid dream, and, I have read about it in books by past life hypnotist Dolores Canon - Conversations with Nostradamus, and her Convoluted Universe, that this language of spirits has been encountered by persons under hypnosis who, at a certain point during hypnosis enter a level where they understand a language they do not know in this incarnation. Dr. DeSalvo explains in his Preface that the basic language of the angels that the Seeress encountered always happened on a journey at a certain soul level in the world of spirit. To me, this proves the reality of "the secret language."
Another interesting point is the fact that this Seeress was able to write the language as well, examples of which are in this book that are from the original German writings about the Seeress. Seems that the spiritual script that the Seeress was able to write has a lot in common with the script produced by Betty and Barney Hill while under hypnosis concerning their captivity aboard a UFO. Samples are given that show the similarity of the two.

Most of us get feelings and impressions of people we see the first time and are immediately drawn to - or repulsed by them. Ever give a thought to what the reason may be? I certainly have, and chided myself for judging people on these feelings. On page 84 DeSalvo's explanation of the Seeress'sensitivity to a person's moral character made all clear the reasons why.

Numerologists will be interested in what the Seeress had to say about our two personal inner numbers, and where she looked to calculate the date of a person's death.

While Dr. DeSalvo was a college administrator he found that once the small talk was over he would introduce thoughts on things of a spiritual nature. Students would immediately perk up wanting to learn more, which proved to him that the real goal for most people is to find something meaningful in life, and that is spiritual enlightenment.

4.0 out of 5 stars Buy this book in paperback not Kindle March 16, 2011
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is quite an interesting book, but it was more of an outline of the Seeress' life than anything else. I felt like it was one long introduction of her and the people around her, and not enough of what she actually said. What she did say was pretty amazing and I'll have to look further into her life in the future.

The author does a fine job giving us the background of the Seeress' life, enough to make me want to know more. What was most fascinating about her was how she was able to see into the spirit world, and even bring us back the language that angels use. Could this be what 'speaking in tongues' is all about? There were only a few examples of this throughout the book, and I definitely wanted to hear more. The Seeress' explanation of numbers was amazing and fit in with numerology says in other books.

There are pictures scattered throughout the book, but on my Kindle I couldn't get them big enough to really study them. This is a book you'll want in paperback, not Kindle. It's a good resource book and a good introduction the amazing woman who saw into the world of spirits. What I couldn't understand, and the book doesn't give an explanation for, is why was the woman sick in the first place? Her extreme poor health seemed to have caused her to be in a constant state of a 'vision quest', but why couldn't she cure herself like Edgar Cayce did? De Salvo did say that she drew up some device that was supposed to help her with her nerves, but why wasn't it used? If she got well would she lose her ability to peek into the other dimension?

This book sparked more questions than answers for me. Maybe there is no more to know that what the author wrote, but I will still keep my eye out for any more books about the Seeress from Provost.
