4.0 out of 5 stars Great for older kids--whether fidgety, sensory seeking, or just right-brained
I was originally going to buy this for my 8 yr old son, who is bright and highly creative, but distractible and fidgety at school. He has always been very tactile. Then I thought of my older son and two other children that are dear to me who are also quite creative and right-brain strong. So I ended up buying four. The kids were excited to receive them, and yesterday,...

2.0 out of 5 stars Tiny, tiny, tiny.....
This IS a great fidget...but what they do not tell you is that it is TINY. The two rings are 1 inch in diameter, making the whole thing very small. It does entertain my son for up to 20 minutes, but I worry the whole time because of the size. It really should have only cost about $4 due to the size and simplicity of it.

I was originally going to buy this for my 8 yr old son, who is bright and highly creative, but distractible and fidgety at school. He has always been very tactile. Then I thought of my older son and two other children that are dear to me who are also quite creative and right-brain strong. So I ended up buying four. The kids were excited to receive them, and yesterday, I spotted three of the four with these in their hands for awhile, just fiddling away. My older son keeps it in his pocket all day and even made sure he had it when he went to visit a friend. (I'm hoping this will end his purposeful pencil chewing/tapping, and eraser destroying days!) I've read before that kids who engage physically while learning learn better--but I'm no expert. That would be a nice perk, though.

It is very small, and is for older kids. (It was originally designed by an adult for adult use as an aid for focus.) The kids I bought for are in 3rd and 5th grade. Don't know if I'd buy it for anyone younger than that, unless they needed something very small that was inconspicuous and appropriate for use in a mainstream classroom. Even then, I might look for something else. It does jingle ever so slightly, so some teachers may still not like it during tests, etc. I also wouldn't buy it with the idea that it will be a "cure" of any kind--just one of several tools a kid can turn to that might be helpful. It's one of those little "trinkets" that kids seem to gravitate towards. (To this end, I must say I feel it is way over-priced.) But I have to admit, that once you've held it for a few minutes, you don't really feel like putting it down...It's pretty cool.

We have searched and searched for something for our ADD son to have in his hands to help keep him focused. We have bought numerous gadgets for him. This is the first he ever enjoyed. He makes sure he has it every morning before school. He even wants it to go just about anywhere. He loves telling how his friends think it is so cool.

It is VERY tiny. Maybe 3/4 inch for each ring.

My 7yo son has High Functioning Autism and ADHD. This fidgit has been the best thing ever! When he starts getting frustrated he grabs the fidgit and sits down and starts moving it around either using one hand or both. He calms down rather quickly and can return to the task at hand without a major meltdown. It is small so I wouldn't recommend it for children under the age of 6 as they could pinch their fingers in it. However it is an awesome sensory tool (and I would definitely NOT call this a toy!)! I just ordered a second one today so that he can have one at home and at school.

3.0 out of 5 stars could probably make several yourself for less, June 30, 2011

this is an addicting thing to play with and great for keeping a hand busy. kind of like turning a coin between your fingers but a bit harder to drop. it looks to be made from 2 key rings and a couple of bike chain links. I actually wouldn't mind trying my hand at making a couple myself. this really is an overpriced item. if it was $5 that might be fair bit $15 is alot for something you could probably make yourself. you are really paying for the idea and the assembly more than the materials. as others have stated its not for smaller children. it might not really grab their interest. but for older kids and adults who want a less obvious fidget it is perfect

This fidget is very small and nothing about it seems to get the attention of my son as described in the ad. I did not feel the item was worth what I paid for the shipping cost alone. Think twice about this one.

I bought this for my ADHD son who started high school this year. I felt like he needed something small and quiet to occupy his hands while he focused on listening and working at school. So far it has worked exactly as I'd hoped. It makes no noise at all and easily slips into a pocket to carry everywhere. Even I find it quietly soothing to fidget with as I read or work!

Purchased for my son, age 9, who has an anxiety disorder. I found it from his therapist, she offers it. He loved it. My son takes it to school and it gives his fingers and brain something to do. Very good.
