More About the Author

New York Times bestselling author Cinda Williams Chima began writing romance novels in middle school, which were often confiscated by her teachers. Her Heir Chronicles young adult contemporary fantasy series includes The Warrior Heir (2006), The Wizard Heir (2007), The Dragon Heir (2008), The Enchanter Heir (2013) and The Sorcerer Heir (2014) all from Hyperion.
Chima's YA high fantasy Seven Realms series launched with The Demon King (2009), followed by The Exiled Queen (September, 2010) The Gray Wolf Throne (2011) and The Crimson Crown (2012.)
Chima plans a new series, The Shattered Realms, set in the Seven Realms world, and featuring a new generation of characters. The first novel, Flamecaster, is scheduled for a Spring, 2016 release from HarperTeen.
Chima's books have received starred reviews in Kirkus and VOYA, among others. I'm 19, I've been reading this series since I was 17, and these books are some of my favorite. Chima is a wonderful author (her other books are great as well, I'd recommend them). This series really captivates those who love stories about magic and royal politics. The story is quite intriguing and very worth the read.

I'd also recommend reading the Ranger's Apprentice series, if you're looking for another great fantasy series.

Ms Chima spins a very intriguing story of love, duty, magic, and politics. We bought these books for my (then) 13 year old son. Since purchasing them they have been read by him, our 12 year old daughter, and myself. Among the many praises I have for this series I would highlight the fact that they are easy to read, and very hard to put down.

I really enjoyed reading these books. There is a lot of action that keeps you at the edge of your seat and you will love the characters. I found myself immersed in the books....a great escape from the real world. I had a hard time putting them down and I read the whole the series in under a week.

It's been a long while since I read this series, and I didn't write a review at that time, so I will redress that now.

READ THIS SERIES - it's so good! The plot, the storytelling, the characters all were exceedingly excellent. I'm afraid my review won't contain too much detail since they're now hazy in my mind, but I just recall staying up all night to devour each of the books. It's rare that I read an entire series where all the books were strong entries, with none being filler or disappointing.

I loved the sly conceit of how the author managed to make the names of all the Queens contain the appellation "ana'(insert former Queen's name here).

Han "Cuffs" Alister is a hero for the ages, even though I 'shipped Raisa and her bodyguard/bestie Amon [ah well].

My only criticism of the series was the de-fanging of The Demon King toward the end of the series. I also felt he was too forgiving of his friend for the betrayal which "broke the world".

Still, my hat's off to Cinda Williams Chima on writing one of the best fantasy series I've read - ever! Truly Epic.

Working my way through this series for a second time. Almost done with the last book. Still LOVE it! It's so hard to find a well-written book. This series is IT! It follows the story of Han Allister, a street lord with a rough background who loses everything when he takes a "flashpiece" from a wizard one day. The story is also about a princess of the Gray Wolf line, Raisa, who is trying to grow into a woman--and eventually a queen. Lots of excellent world-building here, many surprises and twists. I just love how it all ties together, all the characters' stories interweaving. Plenty of romance... maybe too much. But also smart dialogue and action. Other, similar books I've enjoyed are Grave Mercy, The False Prince, and the Throne of Glass series. *Caution there is some spicy romance. Nothing too serious, but maybe NOT for the 12 & under crowd. Brief lesbian reference of a minor side character, but nothing tasteless.

This book will keep you on your toes! I am glad I brought the sets because none of the books are a stand alone novel, because they all run together. The author does an amazing job creative a world with deep traditions and history without a single snore. The characters are trying to get a hold of their lives without changing the tradition and history. It romanticism of the medieval with magic with feeling of the heart and politics. I enjoyed this series by Chima more than the heir series. It is on par with the tapestry series (Max McDaniels) by Henry Neff, although I feel that series had more original ideas. I could easily read this series as much has I read Harry Potter when I was younger.
