Editorial Reviews

Review

The Seven Sacred Rites of Menarche is pure magic. Kristi Boylan tells the truth about both the pain and joy of the adolescent girl's coming of age. And she also provides us with a remarkable blueprint for honoring and nurturing a girl's spirit through the process, so that she stands a far better chance of growing into a strong and healthy woman.” —Christiane Northrup, author, Women's Bodies, Women's Wisdom and The Wisdom of Menopause

The Seven Sacred Rites of Menarche is one of those rare books that can change lives. Kristi Meisenbach Boylan writes with an amazing degree of sensitivity and insight about a young girl's struggle with the physical and spiritual changes that come with adolescence. Anyone who is raising a daughter should read this book!” —Michael Gurian, author, The Wonder of Girls and Boys and Girls Learn Differently!

I don't have daughters, so it was a fluke that I ever read this book in the first place, but I'm so glad I did. It was like a light being turned on in a room that had always been dark. My own torturous adolescence made sense, and I saw my 5 nieces in a whole new light. I wish I knew (and my parents knew) when I was a young woman the wealth of information in this book.

Today I'm a middle school teacher, and one thing I hear from parents over and over again is that their daughters are strangers to them. I keep telling them to read the "menarche" book. I wish I could provide it to all the moms and dads of my female students. I finally decided today to print the info page from Amazon so I could have it in my classroom for reference (and so I could stop calling it by the wrong title!). I plan on giving a copy to every parent, friend, and family member with girls.

I have boys, so I can't wait for Ms. Meisenbach Boylan's "boy" book.

Delivery of this product was as expected in regard to condition and time of arrival - no problems, no surprises. Different take on this whole growing-up process. I got some good ideas from it, but the hyper-religious overtones really made the reading experience distasteful.

I don't recommend this book if you are a serious spiritual seeker. It was a full disappointment for me. I wanted to know about serious spiritual initiations and aids to help my teen. This is just intellectual crap.
