Review

“Dr. Rosenzweig’s work will reduce trauma, save lives, and help families.” (James Hmurovich, president and CEO, Prevent Child Abuse America)

“The knowledge you will gain from her book is priceless.” (Arline McGraw Oberst, coauthor of Chicken Soup for the Volunteer’s Soul)

For generations American parents have been getting a failing grade in the important job of talking with their children about sex. The Sex-Wise Parent is just the tool needed to raise that grade to an A+. It's sound information and advice--a must read for parents.

” (David Walsh, Ph.D., author of Why Do They Act That Way? A Survival Guide to the Adolescent Brain for You and Your Teen)

The Sex-Wise Parent helps parents in dealing with issues related to the sexual education of their children. These are issues which tend to be avoided by many parents and yet if they are not dealt with, children acquire incorrect information and inappropriate attitudes. The book emphasizes the importance of talking to our children about sexuality and provides guidelines to parents as to when and how and what to talk about.

As a mother of three boys, I found Dr. Rosenzweig's book to be extremely useful and practical. This is a topic that, unfortunately, mothers rarely discuss with each other. Experience has shown that each person's childhood experiences with heavily influence their parenting decisions on this issue -- and not usually for the better. In reading this book, I felt like Dr. Rosenzweig was speaking directly to me in a language that I could understand and apply to my every day life. I know now that I don't need to dread "The Conversation" with my boys someday but make this part of our every day communications. I am so glad that this book reached my hands. My children are certainly the healthier and safer for it...and me, too, for that matter.

Not only every parent, but anyone who has children in their lives should read this book. Written from a loving, caring and informed perspective, in an open and honest manner; it is a must read and a must have.
This is a difficult topic for parents to approach, but one that must be spoken about openly in a safe and trusting environment, as communication is key when raising children and preparing them for the world , with all the wonders and horrors it holds.
"Sex-wise parent" gives you tools on how to deal and how to openly talk about sex, abuse and bullying with your child and help him/her be better equipped to face these issues when confronted with them.
This should be translated in every language and shared around the world.
Thank you Dr. Rosenzweig!

This book is a must for parents, grandparents aunts, and uncles....the list includes all who have children as part of a family unit. As a single adult without children in my world or extended family, the book takes on even greater importance.
While perhaps not as enlightened by personal experience and challenges, this book serves to educate me on a most important topic that is a part of all of our worlds. It has given me insight and perspective that I have not had...and after reading this book I reenter the world a much more responsible adult ready to join the ranks of all who want to help children and their families to aviod and stop abuses that may come their way.

When our children first cross the street alone or drive solo, most of us as parents agonize for what seems like forever.
We realize that they need to drive and that we cannot hold their hands forever.
There are other dangers that children face, not only in today's society but historically. Their ability to defend themselves against sexual predation has always been necessary. We have only relatively recently become so aware of the problem.
I believe that, among other things, this book offers parents the tools to educate their children in this area so that they will be armed against those who seek to take advantage.
Children are smart.
They just need the tools.

Sex-Wise Parent covers it all, in a friendly but very thorough and informative way. Dr. Rosenweig's anecdotes are those that every parent can relate to, and her matter-of-fact tone dispels the sense of awkwardness or dread; it's nature, it happens to all of us, and here is why. Great help to us parents whose children are approaching puberty...

Packed with educational tid-bits, interesting anecdotes and practical suggestions, this is a go-to guide for parents in an area where there has been no place to go for guidance. There were some special insights that I really appreciated (the interview with a sexual predator will stick with me for a while.) It's a really well-researched book that I will continue to dip in to from time to time. Thank you, Dr. Rosenzweig for writing an important book on subjects we too easily push aside.

Dr. Rosenzweig provides no-nonsense, practical advice for parents and other caregivers to have frank conversations with children about sexuality. I wish this book had been available when my children were at home. A must read.
