Book Description

Persephonice is given the mission of distracting the shadow elves who are bound to learn what is blocking their water source before they discover a space ship is sitting in the middle of their river. That's how all the trouble begins.

Extended Description
Persephonice is an overseer--an observer and recorder of information about inhabitants of civilized worlds. Only she's lost her lifemate and cannot be an overseer without one. She's given a second chance if she can prove she's worthy if she can survive an inhospitable planet inhabited by elves and other mythical creatures she's only read about, very little of which is known of them except that they constantly battle amongst themselves and are not civilized enough to safely observe.

The shadow elf, Dracolin, a warrior given the task of learning what is blocking their water source, doesn't expect to find the most unusual creature he's ever encountered--a red-haired, green-eyed land-bound mermaid. That's only the beginning. She understands and can speak his language, falls off cliffs without injuring herself, and swims like a mermaid--without the fishtail.

Everyone is intrigued with her--except some fear her uniqueness and want to destroy her. That is the problem with observing uncivilized worlds.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very unique :) Check it out!! October 26, 2014

My Thoughts - 4 out of 5 Unicorns - I really liked it!!!
***Received a code from the author to listen to and review the audio version of the book

The cover is stunning, but it doesn’t really scream from space. It seems magical, but nothing grabs my attention.

This is another audiobook that I listened to with my son in the car. It was very unexpected. I did not read the blurb before listening to this book. I was expecting something like the World of Fae but with Elves. I was so wrong, but it really worked.

It took a while for me to really connect with the characters, but I think it is because it was a new world with unexpected twists. I was initially a little lost, but it did become more clear as you went what was going on. I think this is like Star Trek meets a Fae realm. It is a really cool idea. I’m wondering if there will be more of either the Elven World or of the Overseers. I will admit though as of right now I’d still want to slap the Overseers, but you will have to read or listen to see why.

Persephonice starts out kind of fragile with grief, but she becomes strong, and I really loved her as a character. She encounters so much trouble and overcomes all the stereotypes that she has been filled with out races who are full of passion.

Dracolin is a fierce warrior, and he is not sure why he is so drawn to Persephonice. There is lots of adventure and several men who need to be slapped, but it was a very enjoyable story :) I think if this is a series, it will only get better :)

Maria is a new narrator for me, and she did take some time getting used to her style. Once you get used to it, she is a very good narrator. I’m definitely going to listen to more of her stuff especially if it is written by Terry Spear.

I recommend this story to all the Terry Spear fans out there especially if you want a unique story :)

2.0 out of 5 stars Quite a bit of promise.... June 12, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have read several of Spear's books on previous occasions and greatly appreciated her eloquent writing style; however, this book was a shame. From the underdeveloped characters to the pathetic plot this book is a waste of time. I hate saying such cruel things about a book when I understand that they take so much focus and commitment to write, but Spear shouldn’t have created this piece of work. The reason I purchased this work was because I admired the unique plot line: aliens meet fairies, dragons, mermaids, and elves. In my opinion it sounded like it could be pretty gosh darn cool if executed correctly, too bad it wasn’t. What makes books amazing is the emotional development of characters in comparison to the world around them, yet by jumping from one situation to the next Spear lost the characters personalities completely, which created a rift between the reader and the work. Spear doesn’t allow the reader to fully connect with the characters which makes them appear to be inhuman and not very personable. Being written in the third person omniscient I would expect to hear thoughts and feelings from all of the characters, not just the two main characters; which if I may say so myself, was a shoddy job at best.

If you enjoyed this review, please like it! If not I would love to hear your comments on how to make not only it better, but all other reviews I create. Thank you! 

4.0 out of 5 stars Love Sweet Romance! December 15, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
I like Terry Spear's style of writing which I fell in love with when reading the first 3 books of The World of Fae series. The story starts out a little slow as we learn the particulars for this new world but you will definitely appreciate that later as the action kicks into gear. I also enjoy the sweet romance that blossoms between the main characters Persephonice and Dracolin as they struggle to stay together and out dodge the various different types of creatures (merman, griffons, water sprites and more) that want to covet or destroy Persephonice. It is a young adult book which I usually shy away from because I'm not particularly fond of reading about the trials of high school since I barely survived them myself (true story). I truly enjoyed reading the story line as it twisted and turned with surprises. It definitely is a must read if you like sweet romance or want something to suggest to your daughter to read together.

I recommend this book. An otherworld visitor is left behind on a planet that has fantasy types of inhabitants, such as elves. This adventure is a fun and quick read with an interesting heroine. Expect an adventure fantasy book with a dash of sci-fi. I don't want to give away too much because the story has interesting plot points, perspectives, and unique secondary characters.

More About the Author

USA TODAY bestselling, and award-winning author and creator of award-winning teddy bears who have found homes all over the world including Australia, Switzerland, China, and Russia, and a retired officer of the US Army Reserves, I love to plant trees and flowers and if I could, I'd turn all the deserts green. Time travels are my favorite read, although I love to read most anything, and the Bourne series, Romancing the Stone, Sixth Sense, Legend, The Princess Bride, Stardust, Inkheart, LOTR, and tons of other movies are my favorites.

I love to research, to make urban fantasy worlds real, to bring a little of the paranormal into our world. Even in "Winning the Highlander's Heart" the heroine feels she is cursed and she has second sight. But I try to do it in a way that feels real, and not fantasized. :) Currently, I'm working on book 2 of the new jaguar shifter series, but still am working on wolf book number 12 and 13! So more hunky wolves to come! A SEAL in Wolf's Clothing has just released.
