Editorial Reviews

After being ship-wrecked by a near fatal collision, five friends seek refuge on a remote island in a decaying old lighthouse. While settling into the eerie home for the night, strange noises and ghostly figures disrupt their efforts to communicate to the outside world in hopes of being rescued. Long suppressed secrets of lust, unrequited love and jealousy boil to the surface straining their friendships and marriages. An antique diary reveals a brutal and bloody past, explaining the supernatural events that prevent them from escaping the island's curse. A terrified young woman storms in with a frightening warning, "When Shadows take you, you never come back." Her claims are dismissed as hysteria, until a phantom's violent attack confirms their darkest fears. Now, they all must put aside their personal conflicts and band together to defend themselves against the onslaught of approaching shadowy demons.

The Shadows starts off confusing and goes downhill from there. The sets are overly dark and drab. The acting is really atrocious, especially by the two male actors. The acting and sets seem more like something you'd see in a play at a local theater. A really bad play.

Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time on this one.

I did not think there was much of a story line. The acting was very amateur. Half way through I gave up. The cover was better then what it held inside. So many video so little to waste on this one!

it was a dark and stormy night...and some people did some stuff in the dark to hide from the storm.
Seriously. This is all we know. It's like the director thought we already knew these people when all we know is that they can't act and the screenwriter forgot to give them personalities.
Don't be fooled by the opening bit that seems like a dramatic intro where you'll find out the details later cause you won't and there are no details later.

A group of people battered and bruised ship wreak and wash up on an island with a lighthouse. About 10 minutes into this thing, just about when I have it figured out, one in the group says, "Isn't it amazing none of us died?" But what wasn't amazing was that all of their careers died. Let's see, there is a pirate ghost and women who speaks Spanish, who looks out of date, and is mentioned in an 1826 diary. The characters had less color than the washed out looking film. In in-fighting was horribly written.

What was most amazing was that million dollar budget.

Worth missing.

Parental Guide: No f-bombs, sex, or nudity.

WARNING: SPOILERS
Okay, their ship sinks during a storm, they manage to get to the lighthouse, they're soaked from sea and rain... start up the wood stove, dry off the clothes, put on old clothes found in the closet (make sure you cut the skirts off as short as you can, by the way)... pirates destroy the ship on its way to rescue them (killing the crew, we hear the shots), a ghost pirate walks through the place, the diary is there to give clues, the mysterious 'spanish speaking woman' appears to add fear... and the biggest part of the plot is dedicated to DID YOU EVER LOVE ME? YOU KISSED MY FRIEND WHILE I WAS IN A COMA! and... LOVE ME INSTEAD OF THE GIRL YOU CAME HERE WITH. Seriously.
Good for campy amusement, too bad (?) you can't hear the dialog for at least half the film

I only could get through the first 16 minutes - the film was so dark, I could not see what was going on and I seriously wanted to murder every single character. As soon as it was revealed that there was some side play going on, I was like, "nope, I'm done" and turned it off. Do not waste your time - not even 15 minutes.
