eclectic and sometimes electic, May 31, 2009
This review is from: The Shameless Shorts Anthology (Kindle Edition)
i'm one of the writers in this volume. so much for disclosure. nevertheless, i'm entitled to comment on the wonderful contributions of my colleagues-in-writing. this little volume has some gems.
we discovered each other on an amazon forum. the thread, "shamelss self-promotion" was funny, witty, and pugent. we soon discovered a kinship in discussing writing problems and the morons we encountered in the traditional publishing industry. that led to 10,000 postings before amazon made us start over; we're already past 5,000 on the new thread.
we had disagreements (we're writers) but discovered that we liked and respected each other.
so what does that have to do with your decision to spend 99 cents?
you will be treated to a wide range of excellent writing. stories that run the gamut of human experience. some humor. some thrills. some mystery. but all my colleagues have contributed material worth reading at many times the price.
even if you are one of the three people on the planet who won''t like this anthology, you should know that we did it as a labor of love. any proceeds will go directly to a charity to promote education and literacy in east africa.
we have to develop readers everywhere, i guess

A very different short story anthology, May 27, 2009
This review is from: The Shameless Shorts Anthology (Kindle Edition)
Born of an Amazon discussion forum created by talented author Dennis Batchelder, author of Soul Identity, an assembly of authors wanted to create a joint effort and brought forth short stories and wanted to not only place on Kindle, the wave of the future - but have as well in printed form. Also instrumental in this venture were Don Fowler, Dave Blankinship, and Pete Grondin, and many others, including Gary Val Tenuta's clever cover.
Eighteen authors, whose backgrounds are as varied as their stories offer their imaginations for you to see, and perhaps, go to their other (and future) work, and see if you'd like to read more from them.
This is a group, who, for the most part, have never met, but have become best of friends.
Not all stories may be for everyone - that is true of every writing venture.
But I hope you will consider purchasing this humble short story anthology and find yourself wanting more!
Proceeds from this fine venture will go to charity - 99 cents - such a deal!
Feedback is most welcome!

Pretty good, March 12, 2011
This review is from: The Shameless Shorts Anthology (Kindle Edition)
I love how when any Indie writer releases a book, people come out of the woodwork to slam them. When a musician does the same thing, they are considered brilliant.
This work isn't flawless by any means, but they don't have the overpriced editors going over their work either. The stories here are solid and I have heard of several of these authors in the past. While some of their current work is much better, each story here holds value.
Take a shot and read them, I did and I enjoyed them. Chances are you will too.
