I have only begun to read it, and I'm already thrilled with the information that it provides. A great historical presentation so far, I can't wait to get further into the book!

If Steve Ray has written the best book on the papacy from an apologetical perspective (Upon This Rock), this book by the now Archbishop of Vancouver is the best general overview book on the papacy from the scriptural, historical and theological perspectives. Read both Ray and Miller, and you get a good grasp of the longest continuing office in the world. If you're Catholic (Christ-based, that is), your faith will be deepened and broadened. If you're Protestant, Orthodox or Evangelical ("Bible-based," that is), you'll discover many biblical passages not in your radar and come to realize how wrong you were and you'll follow Ray in "Crossing the Tiber" (his account of conversion to the true Church!). Viva Il Papa!
