4.0 out of 5 stars Finally Returning To The Oasis, October 8, 2008
This review is from: The Shock Of The Lightning (MP3 Download)
Back in the 90s, Oasis rode the highest on the critical pedestal, coming out with dreamy rock songs that became instant classics, even though they were probably mostly drug-fueled. Fast-forward 13 years after 'Morning Glory,' past all the forgettable, weird and radio friendly tracks put out by the band over the years, where the best elements came from the album art, rather than the music. How's the Oasis of 2008? While still not the dreamy drug-fueled classic band we knew (which is probably a good thing), they at least can craft an awesome alt rocker.

When I first heard the song in my car, I didn't know who it was, but I instantly liked what I heard, and turned the stereo up to unhealthy levels, which the song plays best at. The chorus just flat-out rocks, and the verses only build and carry on the momentum. The lyrics are also memorable, but they take mostly a back seat to the music, leaving you to rock in peace. And it's not a studio-produced rock as much as it is pure raw energy. Sure, the song could have been a bit better had they been a little bit more off-the-wall with it, but it's still a good song.

For you Oasis fans, both old and new, it's been a long-time coming, but the band is once again producing memorable music for the first time in some 13-years. If you like what you hear on the radio, then by all means, pick it up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Yet another underrated single from Oasis, June 3, 2011
This review is from: The Shock Of The Lightning (MP3 Download)
Propulsive, catchy, Beatlesque as usual, just what we want! Another excellent single from a band that many casual fans have (foolishly) been ignoring for years. Another great song waiting to be discovered.

As a result of nauseating incessant radio airplay in the 90's, I tuned out Oasis many years ago, but after hearing just one minute of this rocker on The Mark Levin Show, I needed this tune for myself.

Thanks Mark. Liberty and Tyranny: A Conservative Manifesto is brilliant.

And thank you Amazon for individual song sales!!!

... and I suppose I have to thank Noel and Liam Gallagher, even though they, by all accounts, are "big buckets of swear words"...
