How refreshing to have a main character be of a certain age (perhaps mine), not afraid to charge ahead when she smells a mystery, and to do so with quirky young friends. Enjoy a cup of tea along with Minnie, Rashawna, and Joel as they ponder who the red shoelace killer is and wonder if they are next on his list. I look forward to Minnie's next adventure.

I checked this kindle our from our digital library, and I'm glad that's the way I got it. For me this was just an average cozy, noting too special. The characters were a little out in left field, but mildly funny. The writing wasn't too bad, and it flowed pretty well. The only problem I had was with the ease of ending. Also it was just a little too easy to figure out who the killer is, because the plot was pretty predictable. I will probably give any future installments in the series a try. If you like cozy's, and have nothing better to do on a saturday give this book a try. Its a light, quick, mildly funny read!

I loved Susan Sundwall's book. It certainly is a cozy mystery, and I find I already care about Winnie ~ I mean Minnie ~ enough to look forward to more of her Agatha Christie moments. The humor is what I loved best, chuckling through the entire book. Nervous moments, too, that Minnie, Rashawna and Joel would come of it okay. Looking forward to their next adventure.

And the best part of it all was driving nearly three hours to meet the charming author at a book signing in a quaint and lovely bookstore in Kinderhook, New York. My own adventure which Minne would have enjoyed, too!

Susan Sundwall's creation, "The Red Shoelace Killer" planted me firmly in a reading chair until I reached the last page.
I'm not usually driven thru a book like this, nor am I a mystery fan, but this delightful, magnetic story grabbed me.
The Author spices her writing with colorful (and somewhat exotic) adjectives that paint the situations beautifully. Furthermore, we who live in the setting for this mystery are treated to tasty, occasional references to places familiar, providing us an additional attraction.
Now, I want to see just how Ms. Sundwall will develop Minnie Markwood for us in the next adventure (bring it on, please).

Loved this book was somewhat like the Stephanie Plum books but much cleaner and clever! Loved the descriptions about the food made me want to have fish and chips and also really want to try taffy tails !!! Also loved the side kicks and wonder if the author took charateristics from people she knows ! I would highly recommend this book to readers of all ages. Hope there is another one coming out !!!

Minnie Markwood is middle aged, worries about her weight, has a wry sense of humor, and is always looking for a mystery. After reading a newspaper update about an unsolved murder, involving red shoelaces, Minnie finds herself caught in the middle of trying to solve this strange case. She actually has little choice.

I loved this book and bought it for myself and my mother. It was an intriguing mystery that was so hard to put down---I got behind on laundry... I especially liked that the main character, Minnie, was an older, no-nonsense woman (with a healthy sense of humor) that lived by herself. The combination of humor and suspense puts it high in my ranking of who-done-its.

Fans of funny mysteries (think Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum books and Meg Cabot's Heather Wells) will really enjoy this book.
