5.0 out of 5 stars New bluesman shows the way March 18, 2012
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
From the first bars this promises to be a great find. With stong tunes, great lyrics, fantastic guitar playing and a well matched voice, Lincoln Durham is the real deal. Playing this collection to death right now and can't wait for more in the future. Hope he comes to the UK soon - I will be first in line for tickets. Cannot recommend this enough to those who like blues/americana at its best

5.0 out of 5 stars This guy is awesome! December 8, 2012
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
If you like blues or southern rock this guy will be your new favorite. Sounds like the White Stripes, B.B. King, Dire Straits, and a touch of AC/DC all rolled into one. It's a very unique sound, but at the same time it's familiar. Great voice, great guitar, great talent all around.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gut Wrenching Blues...I Love It ! December 3, 2012
Format:Audio CD
If you like Ray Wylie Hubbard's style on "Grifter's Hymnal" then you will like this artist. BTW, Ray Wylie helped produce this CD and thinks very highly of this young artist. I can see why, they seem to be cut from the same mold, unique vocals and great writing skills. Both storytellers to the "nth" degree. Durham credits Hubbard, his musical mentor with teaching him a lot of what he knows.

Durham is the real deal, authentic blues-roots music for the soul. When he started out, Durham never intended to be a solo act. His solo show has been well received. "People really started talking about it and really digging it because it's a lot of volume. I don't mean loud as in `hey, I'm going to knock you down with this.' It's just a full sound. Anyway, people started talking about that and so I thought, well, I'll just stick with what people are buzzing about so that's really what I'm doing. It was never fully intentional; it just kind of happened," Durham explained.

I read...

"There's the redoubtable Rick Richards on drums, a sound that is central to the songs here, and a whole lot of guitar, dirty, slip-sliding, barbed wire guitars. Many of them are vintage and their heritage shows. These are guitar that have been played and loved. Durham is joined by fellow string seductors Jeff Plankenhorn, Derek O'Brien, Ray Wylie Hubbard and George Reiff. All add tone, texture and tenor to the songs on offer. Songs delivered in Durham's suitably sand-papered and distressed denim voice. These songs resonate with these times. They speak of "living this hard" and of "people of the land". They are swamp-drenched, wrecking-yard blues and rock 'n' roll vignettes drawn from the darker corners but strangely addictive and energizing."...By Lonesome Highway, Dec 9, 2011.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not too shabby November 9, 2012
Format:MP3 Music|Verified Purchase
A great album, although not quite what I expected. I've seen Lincoln live, but it's been a few years. The album isn't as raw as his live performances, which I guess should be expected, but the rawness of Lincoln's music is what I dig about it... and some of that just gets lost on the album.

This guy is amazing . He is much better live as well. A good mix of country, soul, the blues, and rock. If you don't believe me... YouTube him.

No BS here. And the blues lives on for another generation. Not only lives on, but thrives, rolls, and tumbles to new directions.
Great stuff !!! Love it!

5.0 out of 5 stars I lurrrve this album February 27, 2014
Format:Vinyl|Verified Purchase
Lincoln Durham makes my insides melt when he starts singing. I would sleep with him if he wasn't so scary looking. He's got a sound that just reaches your soul, man. It's enriched in Southern whatsit. If I could, I would put his music on a biscuit and smother it with rich gravy.

It's THAT good. It's even better on a record player.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of my favorite albums
Very blues, rock, raw, music. Every song on the album is worth listening to multiple times. I haven't ever talked to someone that wasn't blown away after listening to his music.

5.0 out of 5 stars And you have to love the cover....
Lincoln has a great sound, at time like a young Kid Rock, but at others totally different, if you like off the beaten path, you will like this.
