We have a 2 1/2 year old. I was really worried about going away with her as she is now in a 'big girl bed' and I didn't know what we were going to do with sleep arrangements as she has outgrown her pack and play. We bought this and it was wonderful. My husband blew it up and I put the same bedding that she uses at home on the mattress. She immediately went and lay down on it and said, 'Look at my new bed!'. We had a 4 night stay in a condo, and we did have to fill it up a couple of times but the pump works really well and it's very quick. I also really liked the fact that you could tuck in the sheets and the blanket, it made it feel like a real little bed.
I recommend this bed for any vacation short or long. We are very happy with it and it will get plenty of use for years to come.

I was searching for a travel sleep solution for my 3 yr old. At home she still sleeps in a crib, she's way too big for the pack-n-play and forget about having her sleep in the bed with us! This bed appeared to be the ticket! It's the perfect size and her crib sheets fit on the matress perfectly. The only negative is the "side rails" are not going to keep your kid on the matress. The first night I found my daughter halfway on the floor, she was falling off from the top of the matress. Seems she was "chasing" the pillow that kept creeping up and off the matress. To solve this problem we wedged the matress between the two queen beds with the top against the night stand. Problem solved and no more falling out of bed. It does need to be said that the matress is only a few inches off the ground and "Falling" out of the bed is not going to hurt. My only advise is when you set it up, put it in a corner.
I had no problems with the matress holding air. We pumped it up the first night and never had to refill it after 7 nights.

Our 2 1/2 year old is an awesome sleeper and a seasoned traveler. We have put many miles on the Baby Bjorn travel crib, but sadly he has outgrown this gem. Now we need an option for travel that gets him off the floor but keeps him out of our bed. He has a toddler bed at home with a small side rail and he hasn't fallen out of it once - I can't say the same for this glorified floaty. Here's the skinny:
Pros:
- I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 because it holds (and properly fits) standard crib sheets in place. Also, it comes with a nice little pump that makes for quick inflation and deflation - it has a reverse function.
Cons:
- seriously smelly like cheap plastic pool toys. We inflated it before we left and let it off-gas in the garage for a week. It still stinks.
- cheap thin plastic. This thing could easily pop.
- the novelty factor of sleeping on a bouncy house floor is hard for a 2 year old to deal with. He wanted to bounce on it, which given the thin plastic, is definitely not a good idea.
- far and away, the biggest drawback is that the kid just didn't sleep very well on it. The 1st night, I was up every hour putting him back in the bed after he either fell off the side or scooted off top and woke himself up. The second night, instead of just putting it against a wall I had to move some furniture to use a corner of the room and then used couch cushions to make a improvised side rail to keep him in bed. He only worked his way out twice that night - an improvement, but wholly unacceptable given the fact that he sleeps through the night in every other bed he's ever slept in. Plus, creating a pillow fortress might work when visiting family, but finding a suitable corner and cushions in a hotel room could be a challenge.

It didn't work for us and it may not work for you, especially if you have a kid who likes to snuggle up against the headboard or the side of his crib or bed.

We were skeptical to use this mattress while in a hotel but we gave it a shot anyway. Our son is 16 months old and usually sleeps very well in his crib. We told him to lay down on the mattress maybe 4 times (20 minutes total) before he fell asleep on the mattress. He is a restless sleeper and only fell off twice in three nights of use. He slept well considering he was sick at the time and congested. Great design, loved it, excited to use it on a camping trip.

This is exactly what I was wanting for my toddler while away from home. We have already used it a half a dozen times and its perfect. Really good quality. I did buy a flat pee pad to lay over it before we put the sheet on. With a younger sibling and a younger cousin, we will get several more years of use.

If you camp in tents and have little kids, you need this air mattress! It's a great size, good for many years, ages 2-6 depending on how tall your child is. You can tuck the sheets in all the way around, the sides are raised so your child will not roll off. This really is the best I've tried, worth the price!

despite the good reviews I have read, this item did not last very long, maybe two uses at most. Very disappointing and now stuck looking for another item that will hopefully last longer

I have owned the AeroBed Mattress for Kids for a couple of years now for the grandkids. My only complaint has been how noisy it is when the children would toss and turn. So I went looking for a quieter product, and this Shrunks bed is much quieter. However, the bumper/rail system is better in the AeroBed. In the Shrunks bed, there are rails only on the two sides, which really are not very high or sturdy. The AeroBed has bumpers on all four sides, and they are higher. My grandchildren have never rolled out of the AeroBed, but they, and their pillow, did slip off the Shrunks bed. Now I am looking for a bed that has the quiet features of the Shrunks bed and the higher rails of the AeroBed.
