Sam Caine's autobiographical account of his journey with cancer is illuminating and inspiring. Told through both stories and essays, we see the power of positive thought, prayer and most importantly, love. Whether you're living with cancer yourself or have been touched by it in any way, you'll find comfort and guidance with Sam and his amazing wife, Dawn.

I especially loved the quotes at the ends of some of the chapters. This one is my favorite: "Life is just like a hand of poker. You can't control the cards you are dealt, but you can certainly decide how to play them."

Full disclosure - Sam is my cousin and my hero. I'm sure I'm a bit biased. But read for yourself and see if you don't agree. He's truly found the Silver Linings of Cancer!

This is such a spectacular book I could not put down. From the beginning to the end I was totally encompassed with feelings and emotions. This book is a true story of a champion. I hope everyone has a chance to read this great book. I usually don't leave reviews but this book was A+. It hits home in so many ways and almost everyone is having to deal with someone who has cancer in their family. Pass the word on a true inspirational book. God Bless you all!The Silver Linings of Cancer

The Silver Linings of Cancer was written by someone I have long respected. The fact that he wrote his chapter in my training book during a period where many would resign themselves to slowing down and waiting for the end is inspiring.

The book is a brief autobiography and shares the author's battle with cancer. Published more than two years after a terminal diagnosis predicting "three to six months". I do thank him for not giving complete details on a few of the procedures; yet allowing the reader to experience them through his eyes

I am deathly afraid of needles, yet require painful shots every 10-14 days. This is nothing compared what some face. We all have our issues and Sam twice lists the special point we all need to be reminded of...

"No matter how bad things are, they can always be worse. Much, much worse.
No matter how good things are, they can always be better. Much, much better."

Thank you Sam for reminding me of those words.

Continued prayers to you and your wonderful family my friend.

Sometimes, stories dealing with cancer are, understandably, full of emotion, and are difficult to read for encouragement, because I would be crying so much. My mother had a brain tumor that changed her in many ways, finally taking her physical life from her almost 18 years ago, and I am forever changed by living with almost a year of going through the motions of life while she underwent tremendous changes that challenged me to keep loving this precious mother of mine, who I had assumed would be with us for at least 20 more years. Sam Caine has been proactive in dealing with his health and with his outlook, and has simultaneously shown a very human/human response to a terminal illness. I am so grateful that he wrote about his experiences. I was able to read through the entire book with a manageable amount of tears and faith, and gained a great deal of strength from Sam's book. Thank you, Sam Caine, for writing a readable story of a life lived with cancer.

An incredible uplifting read about a guy who was a self confessed, self absorbed jerk who turned a cancer journey into an inspiration of love and giving of the highest order. Sam is gone now, just last week, but his message through his deeply personal experience will always resonate with me and anyone else who reads this book. Godspeed Sam Caine. And thank you for a life well lived

This book was written by a very dear friend of mine about his fight with cancer. During the duration of his treatment and fight, Sam Caine gave from the heart to the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation through the Rides for Kids. Sam attended many when healthy enough to do so. Please purchase this book and read a story that will touch your life forever.

Sam has eloquently described his battle with cancer and encouraged me to take every day as a gift. We all can learn something from Sam's courageous struggle and how he dealt with it. God bless Sam.
