5.0 out of 5 stars Great for any age, or hour. April 20, 2008

Prepare to spend many many many fun-filled and amazing hours at your computer after purchasing this product. If you're getting it for your children, prepare not to see them till they're in their early 20's.

This game is addicting and extremely fun. Everytime you turn it on its a new world to explore and change. Not to mention the fact that this version of the Sims 2 comes with an expansion pack AND stuff pack for the price of the original game alone! Its a great deal that anybody who doesn't own the Sims 2 should not pass by!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Sim Fanatic July 5, 2008
Platform for Display:PC|Verified Purchase
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Okay, I usually don't do reviews but I had to do one for this game. It's simply amazing. Three games for the price of one is enough to make this a worth while purchase but the game play just puts it over the top! I've heard about the Sims for awhile now but it just didn't interest me at the time. Then I purchased the game for my PSP and I liked it enough to purchase it for the PC.

And I was blown away.

To me it's WAY better on the PC and the game is more engrossing. I just can't pull away from it and most days I'm playing it well into the morning. To anyone who's never played you don't know what you're missing. Don't believe the hype? Purchse the game and you'll be a believer.

4.0 out of 5 stars As good as they say August 14, 2008

I ordered this for my daughters. Our oldest (12) has been playing it at a friends house and has been asking for her own copy for a couple of months. It is easy to set up, the graphics are very nice, and the game play is virtually limitless. *Warning* your kids will get sucked into it and lose countless hours glued to the computer. We have enforced time limits for our kids. Also, part of the game play does involve the characters having sex. It seems that's the only aspect of the game that my 12 year old daughter is interested in. As a father, you can probably understand that this doesn't entirely sit well with me. Fortunately, we have an open relationship with our children, we have discussed real life sex well before the Sims ever came into our household, and we do have great children. When our 8 year old is playing with her older sister, the Sims go shopping, or redecorate, or go to work...and only go to bed to sleep. It is a fun game to play, and it does help to teach kids about adult responsibilities.
It takes up/uses a lot of RAM - which can often cause the game or even the computer itself to freeze up -- so, save your progress and save it often

5.0 out of 5 stars One of My Favorite Games January 17, 2010

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I really..really..really love playing this game. Sadly, many hours of my life have passed me by just playing with my Sim creations. This is one of the better deals for this game, it has Sims 2 and two expansion packs, you're not going to find it for a better price. There is so much to do and create with the Sims 2, I'd recommend anyone buy it.

*I have Windows 7 and I haven't had any problems with my computer since I've installed it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wave "bye-bye" to Mr/Miss Social Life! July 26, 2008
Platform for Display:PC|Verified Purchase
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Ah, the Sims. Wonderful little creatures that obey our every commands, making us feel like God, only without some smart-a$$ coming along and nailing things to cathedral doors.

You're doubtless quite familiar with the Sims as a premise. Basically you create and control people. You run every aspect of their lives. You make them do their bidding, and if that means building a house full of nothing but wooden furniture and fireplaces, then by gum, you can do that!

"Sims 2" is a massive improvement over the original game. It took everything that was good about the original and basically set it to eleven, while toning down a lot that wasn't so great (you don't have to micromanage your Sims nearly as much). With this game you get a whole new set of bells and whistles, including a 3D enviroment, Sims that actually age and will eventually die of old age (provided you aren't the sort who tells them to go swimming and then deletes the ladder so they can't leave the pool. Mwa-ha-ha-ha!), new jobs, new aspirations, new gizmos, new building options, etc, etc!

It can be kind of overwhelming at first, but if you start out small the game will guide you, and you'll soon be running people's lives just like that one aunt you have who thinks she knows exactly how everyone should do things and loves to tell you, at length, about how you're messing up your life!

This pack includes the original game, the "Nightlife" expansion pack, which adds dating, a new area for the Sims to visit and vampires! You also get the "Celebration Stuff" pack, which gives you a lot more new stuff to use to decorate your Sims homes for the holidays!

1.0 out of 5 stars Installed, but the game won't start! February 21, 2012

I downloaded it and installed it with no problems, but as soon as I tried to play it, I got an error message:

"Game is not able to start properly. Please reinstall your game."

Great, $20 down the toilet. I would suggest skipping the worthless download, and just buying the disc.

5.0 out of 5 stars Been simming since The Sims 1. January 4, 2011

I've been playing the sims for nearly 10 years now, so I guess you could say I'm a proper addict, lol.. The Sims 2 is by far my favorite (I like it even more than The Sims 3). Getting The Sims 2, the Nightlife expansion pack (EP), and the Celebration! stuff pack for 20 bucks is a steal compared to the $40 I spent for just the base game when it was first released. I would HIGHLY recommend this game.

However... if you just get this and no other expansions, it can become boring, and you will miss out on all the wonderful EPs that go with the game. I would highly recommend getting at least Seasons, Pets, and Freetime (I believe these EPs enrich the game the most)... but really all the expansions are great, and thankfully, a lot cheaper now than they were. The stuff packs are optional... I would at least wait till you've played the game a while before deciding if you really want the extra stuff. If you do, I wouldn't pay more than $10 for any one of them.

Happy Simming! I hope this was helpful.
