A True The Sims Experience for Xbox 360

In The Sims 3 players create Sims with unique personalities, fulfill their desires, and control their lives within a living gameworld. To a large extent this has been the case in previous console based The Sims games, but things are taken several steps further in this release. The Sims 3 features Sim creation functionality that is essentially the same as players enjoy on the PC platform, with the only appreciable difference being that the interface is optimized for game controller use. Players also enjoy improved and easy movement throughout the game by way of the standard controller layout, using the analog stick to move your Sims and the D-Pad for motions in the up/down directions in 3D space. Additional features include the ability to connect to the Sims Store and the greater online Sims community to share your creations and download content from other players around the world, without leaving your game, and the inclusion of life cycles and lifetime wishes, that can lead to ultimate happiness for Sims, if fulfilled.

New Karma Powers

Another major addition to the series in this release is the inclusion of the concept of Karma. The Sims 3 allows players can unlock all-new Karma Powers and unleash them on your Sims. These can be used to help your Sims get lucky with the power of "rapid romance", bless them with "instant beauty" or at the opposite end of things, curse them with the "instant enemy." Use these powers wisely, because they may have unexpected results. Either way, as you guide your Sims through life The Sims 3 allows you to complete opportunities to unlock items and rewards like never before.

Key Game Features

  • Create any Sim you can imagine - Fine-tune your Sims' appearances and create millions of different personalities. Make them evil, romantic, paranoid, kleptomaniacs, or a mix of something completely different.
  • Build and Customize - Build the ultimate home for your Sims, improve your town with building upgrades, and more.
  • Control your Sims' Destinies - Choose whether or not to fulfill your Sims' destinies by making their wishes come true, or letting their dreams die. Will your Sims be emperors of evil, world leaders, or expert thieves? It's up to you.
  • Build and Share Online* - Connect to share your creations and download content from other players around the world, without ever leaving your game.
  • Unlock All-New Karma Powers - Wield the ultimate control over your Sims giving them wealth, beauty, and love, or take it all away with the click of a button.

5.0 out of 5 stars My real life is over, thanks to this game January 24, 2011

It's been a while since I've been this addicted to a video game. I played the first Sims and I loved it very much though I felt there were definite limitations to the console version. Fast forward to the Sims 3, and it's definitely a much more fluid and fun experience than the first game that I played way back in the day.

As someone mentioned here, it's fun to play God. It's even more fun when I have the chance to create real life friends in the virtual world (they even look and act eerily like the real people I know) and see what kind of crazy awkward situations you can put them in (or watch them flourish in specific job situations and/or hobbies/talents).

This game is like a black hole that sucks away any sense of time you may have in the real world. On the first day, I sat through 11 straight hours without even batting an eyelash (other than to grab a quick bite or two and use the restroom). That's how addictive this game is. It's incredible that you can have so much control over everyone's lives, as well as how you make friends, interact with NPCs, and learn skills that really define who your Sims are over the course of their lifetimes. I also like how there is so much attention to detail in terms of how you can design and build the home of your dreams. You can landscape, paint, wallpaper, roof to your heart's content, and buy all sorts of cool stuff to put in the house.

I have heard about the glitch involving people who have game freezes due to possibly too many objects in their inventory or game (I have yet to encounter this problem, fingers crossed) - however, I'm just being very careful about how I manage my stuff in game and am hoping that the problem doesn't affect me.

The game controls fabulously.

5.0 out of 5 stars Addictive! December 3, 2010

I've been a Sims player for the last 8 years or so, but haven't been able to play it on a console in a while. This version for the XBox 360 is absolutely wonderful! I found myself playing it for several hours straight, hardly realizing how much time had passed! It's amazing all the different combinations you can play--all the different stories/personalities/etc that are available.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Sims 3 June 22, 2011

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
For the people who's been playing the sims it came out, the series has come a long way since it's birth. Each installment improve the quality of the game overall but the PC users got more of the cake than the consoles consumers. After the sims 2 came out on the xbox and playstation 2, i had high hopes for the series itself since it was a huge improvement from the original sims. Finally after years of waiting, we finally have The Sims 3 introduce to our next gen consoles. Was the years worth the wait? Find out with this brutally honest review of The Sims 3.

In the original sims, you started at your mom's house where all you did was loafing around doing nothing while your sim mother was up and about doing her business. In the sims 2, you started off with roommates. Now in the sims 3, you dont have a mom around you nagging to fix the tv or get a job (sounding like somepeople life) or roommtes right away. You have the option as always to make a family of your dreams. Where exactly? A place call Moonlight bay where dreams can either come true or utterly draw back on you. In the Sims 3, there is no story mode. It's more of a free mode. I'll explain it...

If you want to create your very own family, you have the option to have your sims to a toddler to being an elder. The clothing is update and you have the option to create your own style and upload to the EA server which has a sim store where other players upload sims, houses, styles, etc. You can customize your sim's face, pick his personality traits, a dream wish (have up to six kids, become a spy etc). You can have up to six people in a family. Note: if you want to start as a toddler, consister having a young adult in your family since you need someone to take care of the toddler sim.

5.0 out of 5 stars You get what is described! June 16, 2014

While I was hoping it would be multiplayer, Sims 3 is single player but still tons of fun to play around with! It's highly addictive, so I tend to play for hours without noticing what time it is. If you are looking for a Sims game with animals, the only pet you can have is a fish, which was a little disappointing but once again I didn't do a lot of research before I bought the game. I love the quality of the game, being able to fast forward through things like sleeping, and being able to make each Sim completely different from the others!

The Sims 3 360 is the closest you'll ever get to an excellent port on a console. There is a very small lack of fluidity, but it's made up for in enjoyable game time, an always up and running online community, and just general sim fun. The game certainly runs well enough for the most part, even with a lack of a build from scratch mode(to my knowledge there isn't) I still have fun seeing how I can upgrade my characters life through paycheck to paycheck. The karma powers add a new dimension to the game, certainly worth noting that they can and will have effects on a sims future karma. All in all a great game.
