I like it. However, I read it cover to cover in 35 minutes, and it provided nothing terribly useful, and coming late, I already knew everything in it. There's some maps and collectibles lists in the back, those are alright, and tells you two secret locations you might miss without any kind of help at all.

However, it has character, is well written, decently presented, and I prefer to have it -- but don't pay more than 20 USD for it, preferably not over 10. 35 MSRP is just. . .not worth it.

To get into a little more detail:

It's not that it has any wrong information or anything, it's that this game has (essentially) no information to have outside the menus themselves. Item lists? Everything you need to know is in buy mode. Building? Ditto. Career paths? Yeap. Aspirations? You guessed it.

This guide has an entire chapter listing every item in the game, even with a table covering all emotions and so forth. . . which is useless, most items have few if any, and they tell you in the buy mode. As for typos and possible wrong information in those tables? I didn't notice anything wrong while reading through it, but those tables are in-of-themselves useless (excluding the collectibles...kind-of...) given that all the information is much more readily accessed in the game itself. I rather admire the work put in to making it good, it just, isn't useful.

The thing to focus on here is that this 'guide' has little to none of that -- by far the most interesting bit of it is the (large chunk) time spent talking about the author's own Sims' first few days. It's a hand-holding little tour-guide taking someone with no knowledge of the sims at all into the world of them, and the vague possibilities can be shown by example.

Missing a lot of information such as how to complete collections (the names and rarity and sale price is listed, but not how to find it?) Contains some useful stuff and it's certainly handy, but I hope to see more info on their electronic version that will be more genuinely helpful.

This was a good guide for those not familiar with the Sims series overall. It also helps with understanding Sims 4 and what the goal of the game is. You get a code to download an in game computer that is exclusive to this game.

It has everything i expected. I expected this to be a mini book, like those prima guides made for sims 3, but no it was surprisingly large. It's in colour, the paper material is good. The font is clear and the book overall is perfect. It focuses on every aspect of the game, introduces households, helps you with build mode, create a sim, tells you about all the traits and everything! Great 4/5

The main reason I love this guide is the online version of the Prima guide AND various tips and tricks. There are great articles and tips.
I also love the drawings of variations of houses in the front. The hardback (Collector's Edition) is nicer, with better paper.
Prima Guides are always worth the money, in my opinion. The tips are great and the writing is fun. Enjoy!

I love it. I have always been a fan of the Prima Guides for The Sims but they stopped printing them during The Sims 3 releases for whatever reason. I hope they don't stop making them for The Sims 4. It definitely helps me and give me reading material when I am bored and just want to know the ins and outs of my game. I love that it comes with some secrets!

I had pre-ordered this guide just as I did getting The Sims 4 limited edition and honestly I think rather your an old Sims player or a new I highly recommend that you get this Prima Guide as The Sims 4 is basically a reboot to a long running franchise that common modes like build and even buy mode have been reinvented. With new features and upgraded modes such as a new integrated UI, new ways to build with the new push and pull feature the guide details how to do it and from scratch step by step. Neighborhoods are completely different then all three past generations as now a world consists of 6 neighborhoods (four residential, one commercial, and one huge park neighborhood). The guide shows you the names of each neighborhoods, the amenities, the Sims that live there (don't be discouraged over one family per neighborhood that lives in each as townies will gradually fill up unoccupied homes as long as your game options are set to that), where to find collectibles and fishing holes, etc

However the main reason I also wanted to review is that things have been changed. If you are just now getting The Sims 4 Prima Guide and have not yet installed your game there was a December 16th patch that altered the aspirations objectives. I can confirm that the soul-mate and chief of mischief aspirations were completely changed and will not be what the book says. Several aspirations has been confirmed to been changed by SimGuru's but rather that's all of them or most of them is yet to be seen. So just as a warning if you do update your game to the new two careers patch the aspirations objectives in the book will no longer be accurate. Other then that I say see everything that The Sims 4 has to offer with this well written guide.
