The game is really fun but I went through a lot to download it. ANd when I finally did install the game something messed up and I had to uninstall and download it again. It took me about 3 days to find out how to get this game to work.I have a windows 8 laptop so I had to go through more to work.If you don't really know how to work computers or if you have a windows 8 laptop I would recommend that you buy the physical cd and wait on it to come in the mail.

I bought this after I became addicted to my sister's game but wanted my own and wanted some expansion packs with it. Despite taking forever to install, which I expected, I love it.

Excellent expansion next the supernatural one. Really enjoy the resort ownership option. Makes it easy to build cash when pursuing self employment careers.

I played the first Sims game a little and while I thought it was a great concept, I found it frustrating and it never really caught on. When I saw this very reasonable deal, I picked it up (and the Expansion Bundle). I've been obsessed with it ever since. The program is very stable on my computer (running Win 7) and there are only a few glitches. Play is imaginative, flows nicely, and it is not too hard to keep your Sims happy and have them lead interesting lives. The various goals and opportunities add constant variety, without sacrificing the enjoyable sandbox play that is so distinctive of the original Maxis games. There are even a few funny surprises. I laughed out loud when a Sim died on my plot and the Grim Reaper harvested her life and then went into the house, watched television for a while, then picked up the baby from the crib and cuddled it (I thought Oh NO! Don't take the baby! But she just giggled). Plenty of opportunity for romantic hijinx and I enjoyed a fist-fight between two paparazzi outside the house at 2 AM.

There is a lot of angst about Origin here and elsewhere. In general, I agree. I've purchased a game ON DISK. I shouldn't have to be logged in to play it. Installation is unnecessarily complicated and the directions that come with the DVD are OUT OF DATE AND INCORRECT (shame on you EA). But it DOES work. Here's what you need to know:
1. Put DVD in drive. Installation will initially ONLY install Origin. Allow Origin to be installed. Log-in and create an Origin account.
2. You can register your game on Origin using the code that comes with the DVD.
3. Sims 3 core game will appear under "My Games" in Origin, but only download is available. Don't do this! You have the game on DVD of course. You need to now either re-insert the DVD and have autoplay start INSTALL again or manually select SETUP from the DVD root directory yourself. Why EA can't figure out how to do this automatically is a mystery. The Sims3 game should now install just fine from the DVD.
4. Once your game is installed, you can start the Sims3 launcher by selecting "Play Game" on the Sims3 icon under "My Games" in Origin. Counter to some claims, I did need to have the DVD in drive in order to play.
5. You will also be asked to register the game at the sims3 website. This is a good idea, but you should expect an "unrecognized code" message when you try to register your product. This should be fixed by logging out and then logging back in to your sims3 account.

Hope this helps.

You MUST have internet access to play this game. EVERY time you to want to play the game you have to be signed in to the "Origin" sight. I found this to be the most idiotic thing I have ever come across in computer games.

Background. My Neighbor put in a fence, as soon as they started digging I lost phone/internet service for three days. During that time I tried loading all the old games I haven't played in years, one of them being The Sims. I remembered how much I liked building the houses, but the game was old and wouldn't save things right. As soon as I got internet back I bought this on Amazon. After going through a bunch of garbage trying to load it (you have to sign up to Origin just to load it) and sitting through an hour and a half "update"...I come to find out that I can't play this game without being signed in over the internet. I decided to buy this game because I was without internet, and find out you can't play it unless you are on the internet, I did not find the irony amusing, and I will never by an EA game again.

PS: Their customer service is horrific, it took me being hung up on twice and going through 4 "chat" guys before someone gave me a straight answer.

I've installed a lot of games over the years - every operating system from Windows 95 forward - and this was the most difficult, fussy and frustrating one I've done. Best of all (sarcasm alert) if you make a mistake the first time through, it will never install on that machine ever again no matter what you do - so you better do it right!

Oh, and the installation instructions are complete crap. They don't tell you anything about the Origin installation, which must be done first. If you don't do Origin first, and do it correctly, and be logged into their website or the thin client (or perhaps both) when you try to install Sims, the install is ruined forever. I tried to install it on my daughter's laptop, but messed up the Origin part, and now it can't be installed ever again.

When I learned (the hard way) about this quirk, I got the game installed on her Auntie's laptop, so its not a complete loss as she gets to play it when Auntie's around.

PROCEED WITH CAUTION.

P.S. I hate you, EA games for making this unnecessarily complex

The game won't download with the codes provided and both Amazon and EA / Origin feel that it's the other company's job to fix it.

And that's how you end up out of 30$. I could have bought the deluxe edition of Sims 3 on Origin for 25$ if I had known I was going to spend an hour of my life trying to explain to them how this is a) a problem and b) their problem.

3 games for the price of one, you cant argue. The sims 3 is an endlessly fun game and getting 2 expansion packs (well 1 stuff pack, and 1 expansion pack) Rocks! Came in the mail quickly and didn't have any problems.

I love the Sims, and I play with this game since a long time now. My previous computer got stolen, so since some years, I haven't played it anymore because I lost the discs and all my families with it and I was not that excited with the idea of starting from zero.
Anyway, I decided now to buy it again, and everything went smoothly with the shipping, and the product itself; but when the moment of installing arrived it was a very big headache.
I'm no computer savvy, but I'm not an ignorant, and even though the new process with Origin gave me tons of error messages and problems, I do miss the old days when you could just install the game from the Wizard. But now Origin won't let you do it any other way. At the end, I spent like 40 minutes configuring everything about the program and my computer to make it work, but it was a huge waste of my time.
The game is fine, I'll try it to see how it goes.

Received this game as a Christmas gift since I love Sims so much. Couldn't wait to play it so I went to install it and put in the code they were asking for but it keeps coming up with a error. Sometimes it says the code is invalid and sometimes it says code has already been used. So I feel like I was robbed out of a game I love here. If I am possible doing something wrong when Installing this game can someone please help me before end up selling this game or something. Cause I don't think the buyer wants it back and I think I receieved a refund from Amazon. Just someone please help before I end up buying a new one.
