. . . from the Sing Off. They've been using last season's Beelzebubs for a good bit of background work this year. These groups are the real Glee. This album has a little something for everyone. From OTR's take on a classic (White Christmas) with an amazing solo by Jake Jepson to the smooth harmonies of Committed's Angels We Have Heard on High, reminiscent of Take 6; from the dance club beat of SCS to the raw power of the Backbeats, even the more choral sound of the Whiffenpoofs, there's something there you'll love!

I am a new fan of the sing-off so I decided to buy this CD half-expecting to be disappointed. But, I LOVED IT! It's hard to believe that this is totally an a capella CD. The producers of this CD did an awesome job. And, the short MP3 samples here on Amazon.com don't do the CD justice. Highly recommend it!!

Am I the only one who found this album a little disappointing?
First let me say I am a HUGE fan of both the show, and of all things a capella. So, I was delighted when I discovered this CD online. When it arrived, I slammed it in player and found myself disappointed. The arrangements seem some how...homogenized, like grocery store eggnog. One of the ways I could tell the album was not all that I had anticipated was that I had to keep referring to the liner notes to find out which group was singing. Each of the groups has such a distinctive sound and style on the show, I was gobsmacked that the producers had set those styles aside in favor of a kind of "middle of the road" sound. The only group I could identify right off the bat was Jerry Lawson and Talk of the Town, and that's only because Jerry sings (beautifully) one octave lower than the mating song of the narwhale.
I thought I had a pretty good idea of what the album held from the preview samples on Amazon, but I ended up listening once of twice and consigning it the shelf of CD that's probably getting traded in next time I'm headed to CD Trader.

This is the 2010 version which I like best of all the years that are out there. I like that they are regular Christmas songs, but redone in a way you've never heard before. Great versions of those songs. It is all a capella.

Fun CD
As expected the accapella harmonies are delightful and fun for the holiday season. I nice change from the usual holiday solos by recording artists.
