5.0 out of 5 stars I love this game!
I had a great time playing this game. I knew the majority of the songs which range from Mariah Carey to Patsy Cline. Joey Fatone hosts the game along with the Singing Bee dancers. If you love music and a great time, than this is the game for you! I recommend playing it in groups since there are a wide variety of songs!

2.0 out of 5 stars Fun, for one night only . . .
I would just like to write on the other side of things, cause the review here helped me buy the game for a present and after playing it, I am thoroughly disappointed.

I would just like to state that I played it one night, 3 games, 2 players. First of all, I have a wealth of music knowledge, I have some 18,000 songs on my iPod, and I only knew about 3/4 of...

I would just like to write on the other side of things, cause the review here helped me buy the game for a present and after playing it, I am thoroughly disappointed.

I would just like to state that I played it one night, 3 games, 2 players. First of all, I have a wealth of music knowledge, I have some 18,000 songs on my iPod, and I only knew about 3/4 of the songs. Strange Andy Williams songs, Boney M, Pet Shop Boys songs I've never heard of, aren't exactly songs people know words to (And I know some Williams and Pet Shop Boy songs). But, that's fine, that makes the game a little more challenging I suppose. The other problem was during the second game, we started getting repeats, same song, same part of it to guess. Then by the third game I occasionally had to skip about 4 songs to get to a new one (which isn't easy to skip, you are forced to watch the song and Fatone's response). And the last thing I didn't like is that half the game, you have to put your back to the TV to come up with the missing lyrics. It'd be better off just letting you sing the first part of the song and then putting blanks where you are supposed to guess the part of the song. It's hard listening to their horrible singers and what they're actually singing. I'd rather sing along and then guess when needed, they could show the answer after that on the screen. This also leads to making it impossible for someone to play by themself, for the answer will be on the screen before you can turn away and guess it. Annoying.

Now, I'm not saying it isn't fun, it is. But I think if they spent a little more time on a DVD game, that is basically just a DVD, then they could help us out and add a little more production value into it, and more SONGS.

1.0 out of 5 stars The Singing Bee-Not for Fun, May 31, 2008

The Singing Bee is not a good game for groups. It is confusing and disjointed and needs a lot of organization to pull off as a group game. Also, the questions are extremely difficult. Very few of us could guess the answers with the hints.

I played Singing Bee for the first time this past weekend with three friends. Three of us were born in the mid 70s, one was born in 1980. This put us at a disadvantage as much of the featured music is from waaaaay back...early 70s and before. I actually liked the various challenges though we didn't understand why some allow three attempts and others only one. Seems like it should be one shot across the board. I'd play it again but I'm not encouraging anyone to rush out and add Singing Bee to their game repertoire.

I have two sons in their early twentys who know the words to EVERY song in every genre of music ever played on the radio so I thought they'd enjoy competing with each other using this game. It's the first thing they wanted to play after opening gifts on Christmas. We were all so disappointed. Neither of them had heard of any of 95% fo the songs that were on the game. I can only assume the game company in an effort to keep costs down did not want to pay to use any copyrigted material so they found 'cheap' material that no one has ever heard. Very disappointing. I don't recommend this game to anyone.

3.0 out of 5 stars It is just aight!!, January 26, 2008

I agree with the person from Philadelphia. We bought the game today and played three games tonight. By the second game the songs were repeating itself. Instead of turning our backs to the TV we just put a pillow in front of our face. At the end of the game there is a whole list of songs that scroll up. If there are so many songs why would it repeat the songs by the second game.

Let me quote one of the judges on a reality tv show. the game is "just aight".

We opened this on Christmas Eve and were rolling on the floor by midnite! I admit the MC and dancer's are a little annoying after about a 1/2 hour but the home players make up for it!!! The song genre is expansive, but our 25-45 year old crowd didn't have any problems. Very much like the TV show itself. Well worth the price. Buy it, you won't be disappointed.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the television show..., January 12, 2008

I bought this game as a gift for a Singing Bee enthusiast and could not wait to play after the gift was opened. However, we were quickly disappointed with the set up of the game. The directions provided on the DVD are not very clear as to how many players can join (we later discovered through playing that you can have a limitless number of players or teams). Also, unlike the television show, the words that you are supposed to sing appear on the screen for some of the categories, meaning that the contestant must look away. Obviously, if the contestant didn't remember to do so they were quickly given the answers (this also made it much easier for contestants to cheat!). Overall this is an okay game but not overly impressive... it was good for about 15 minutes of entertainment value before everyone lost interest. Nice idea, needs improvement!

This game stinks! The game is repetitive--EVERY time you start a turn Joey explains how to play that challenge. By the third or fourth time, you're sick of him! There is no way to end a turn quickly if no one knows the song, which happens frequently. Everyone just has to wait until the lyrics have rolled by and Joey has asked how the singer did. Then, sometimes, you can move on quickly, sometimes you can't. We played three times, each time with four players. EVERY SINGLE TIME player one would get only Random Shuffle. Player two would always get singing a chorus. Only players three and four seemed to get different challenges. There are some good songs listed in the credits, but we never seemed to get them to sing, tho. Save your money!! We're throwing ours out!
