Despite suffering under the handicap of trying to set the stage for an entire series of novels, ths book manages to be entertaining--poking fun at many sci-fi conventions and standards slong the way. I enjoyed it; but while we get hints of adventures to come, the story really doesn't get rolling until the next book,The Star Dancers.

In my opinion, there are few writers with the imagination and writing skill that are evident in this, the first of a trilogy by the author. You think you've been to every possible realm until you pick up this book and see that you were in the minor leagues of reality. Read it and see what I mean.

Great science fiction, in the grand tradition of Larry Niven and Frederik Pohl. A fully realized universe with its own internally consistent forces, with very relatable characters. Jeffrey Caminsky is a very talented writer, and weaves a tapestry of plot and subplot that will keep the reader engrossed. Two thumbs up
