Book Description

Turning Simple Disciplines into Massive Success & Happiness

The Slight Edge is a way of thinking, a way of processing information that enables you to make the daily choices that will lead you to the success and happiness you desire. Learn why some people make dream after dream come true, while others just continue dreaming and spend their lives building dreams for someone else. It’s not just another self-help motivation tool of methods you must learn in order to travel the path to success. It shows you how to create powerful results from the simple daily activities of your life, by using tools that are already within you.

In this 8th anniversary edition you’ll read not only the life-changing concepts of the original book, but also learn what author Jeff Olson discovered as he continued along the slight edge path: the Secret to Happiness and the Ripple Effect.

This edition of The Slight Edge isn’t just the story, but also how the story continues to create life-altering dynamics—how a way of thinking, a way of processing information, can impact daily choices that will lead you to the success and happiness you desire. The Slight Edge is “the key” that will make all the other how-to books and self-help information that you read, watch and hear actually work.

2.0 out of 5 stars Great message. Terrible execution. February 1, 2014
By Kyle
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Most self help material is repetitive but this book takes it to a whole new level.

The overall message, that it takes time to make change (good or bad) and how focusing on the little changes will lead to the big ones, is great but the author takes too much time going over the same concept, rewording slightly as the book progresses, that by the middle of the book I was ready to call it quits because I'd learned all I need to learn.

Also, I feel like the author pats himself on the back a little too often, and perhaps too heavily.

One of the most painful sections is where he says he is going to let his daughter finish the chapter, who hands it over to her mother before she is done, and then, even though he said otherwise, the author comes back to rehash everything they said.

The best material in this book comes from other books, which the author takes much time to explain even though the concept is straight forward.

I liked what he had to say. I just didn't like the way he said it.

"The Slight Edge" by Jeff Olson in 8th edition of his popular book again helps readers learning how to realize the dreams and not be someone who just dreams while life passes by.

He sees the solution in the introduction of his Slight Edge principle that can be applicable not only to our profession, but also marriage, relationships, friendship, love, almost anything in our lives.
What is most interesting about this book is that most things found inside are common sense, although it's often forgotten.

For example when he says "...The average person spends between 250 and 350 hours every year driving to and from this place and that. That's about forty minutes to an hour each and every day. If you spend that time listening to educational and self-improvement material, you'll have the equivalent of a Ph.D. on any subject you choose in just a few years. That's the Slight Edge...." or "...being productive and being busy and not necessarily the same thing. Doing things won't create your success; doing the right thing will..." reader has to agree with him.

Maybe some readers will be disappointed to realize that slight edge is not some complex principle, something difficult or unique of which you have never heard before.
Slight Edge is actually about the driving force in our life that pulls us closer or moves us away from our goals.

The difference between these two diametrically opposite sides is someone ability to accept this philosophy and advances, with small or large steps toward the goal.

Overall, Jeff Olson's work is very inspiring and motivating piece, well-written and easy to read, and due to all those reasons, a book that can be recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars YOUR LIFE WILL CHANGE DRAMATICALLY November 5, 2013
Format:Hardcover|Verified Purchase
The Slight Edge is the best book I have ever read. This is because it makes all of those other books work if you apply the Slight Edge philosophy. It is about mastering the mundane and teaches you how to do the how to's. I am teaching my 5 and 7 year old kids how to apply the slight edge to their lives and it has changed the order of our home. They understand now that they need to brush their teeth every night...not because their teeth will fall out if they don't brush them tonight but if they continue not to brush them the consequence is far worse that the simple "mundane" chore of brushing them. They know that if they read an additional 10 minutes of a book each night it won't change them that day or the next day but it will certainly change their grades by the end of the year. BUY THIS BOOK FOR YOURSELF AND EVERYONE YOU CARE ABOUT THIS HOLIDAY SEASON. IT IS SOMETHING YOU CAN APPLY TO ANY SITUATION AND CREATE SUCCESS FOR YOURSELF IN YOUR LIFE. Dieting and working out, to personal relationships, to finances, anything. I'VE USED IT TO TRAIN MY UNRULY DOG AND IT WAS SO SIMPLE TO GET HIM TRAINED ONCE I REALIZED IT ONLY TOOK A FEW MINUTES A DAY WITH A GOOD ATTITUDE, COMMITMENT AND CONSISTENCY. Seriously BUY THIS BOOK!

5.0 out of 5 stars The 'Anti-Quantum Leap' Philosophy November 4, 2013
Format:Hardcover
This is one of the most amazing business books that has ever written.

I purchased the original version in 2005. I am so excited about the updates made in this 8th version.

Read the book then teach the slight edge philosophy to your children, friends and colleagues and watch your life change.

If you want to really go to the next level, integrate the slight edge philosophy with the happiness. You can learn more at [...]

Remember, when you do the little things consistently over a long period of time you can change your life dramatically.

Happiness is an attitude. The Slight Edge is philosophy.

Integrate both of these and watch miracles come your way.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best gift you've ever given me November 4, 2013
Format:Hardcover
The Slight Edge is one of those books you'll want to read over again at least once a year. Why? Because this book is so full of information that can transform every single area of an individual's life. Everyone has potential to be their very best, but not everyone is willing to master the mundane. Simply by doing those little things that seem to make no difference in the act of doing them, a person can truly transform. Because over time continuing to do the right thing creates the compound effect that will make people rise above those who are not willing to do what successful people do.

Last December I purchased the book for my 25-year old son, he said, "Mom, that is the best gift you've ever given me. I love that book!"
