Book Description

Whoever said nothing good in life comes easy must have never owned a slow cooker.

Slow cooking offers the best of both worlds -- hearty, healthy meals with minimal effort. The slow cooker, or "Crock Pot" as it is commonly referred to, is well known for its delectable pot roasts and savory stews, but what is less known is that it is capable of so much more. Enter bestselling author John Chatham's latest creation, The Slow Cooker Cookbook, which features 87 recipes that will put your slow cooker to use from breakfast to dessert.

The Slow Cooker Cookbook helps eliminate that dreadful feeling of coming home from work tired and wondering what's for dinner. If you own a slow cooker you already know that it's the easiest appliance to operate in the kitchen. But it takes too long you say. Well, that's the point. A slow cooker allows you to throw some ingredients in the pot, safely walk away and get on with your life while it does the work.

This cookbook offers recipes for all the traditional comfort food favorites like pot roast, beef stew, pulled pork, BBQ baby back ribs, old fashioned meatloaf, butternut squash soup and even mac 'n cheese.

Imagine your home filled with the spicy aromas of Tandoori Chicken, Chicken Ranchero Enchiladas or Braised Asian Beef. Dozens of international recipes feature meals you never dreamed of actually making yourself. And with the slow cooker doing all the work you will feel as though you are dining out.

Sounds appealing, but you don't eat meat? The Slow Cooker Cookbook dedicates an entire chapter of recipes to fish and seafood, and is filled with numerous hearty vegetable dishes like White Bean and Rosemary Soup, Eggplant Parmesan and Vegetarian Cassoulet.

And if slaving over the stove is your passion then most likely you're not the baking type. Let the slow cooker make dessert. From fruit crumbles and cobblers to hot fudge cake there's virtually no recipe that this cookbook doesn't offer.

ASK THE SLOW COOKER COOKBOOK, "WHAT'S FOR DINNER?"
  • 87 delicious slow cooker recipes covering every meal from breakfast to dessert
  • Bonus sections include: "Guide to Entertaining" and "Basics of a Slow Cooker Pantry"
  • Written by bestselling author John Chatham, creator of The Paleo Diet Solution Cookbook, Paleo Slow Cooker and The Mediterranean Diet
  • Simple, healthy, time-saving recipes for the food lover on the go
The Slow Cooker Cookbook is an easy step-by-step guide to enjoying hearty, healthy meals without any of the hassle.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"I work full time and after working all day, the last thing I want to do is spend 30 minutes or more cooking. I want healthy, flavorful meals for me and my family, and bought this book to get some great slow cooker recipes to try. This book is full of healthy meal options that use fresh vegetables. I tried the baked potato soup first and it was excellent!" - Paulat

"My wife and I received this cookbook from a friend and after reading through it, we can't wait to try all these recipes. "The Slow Cooker Cookbook" has great ideas for soups, sides, stews and even desserts, which we normally don't see with slow cooking recipes." - A.J. Velaquez

"the author of this book not only gives some factual information about slow cooking, which is great if you are new to the technique (I am not - I have FOUR slow cookers of various sizes!), and actually has come up with some new stuff." - Felicia A. Sullivan

This book is a joke. I know it was free but does that mean it doesn't get edited? I looked at a recipe for a butternut squash soup (or something like that, this was about two weeks ago and I promptly deleted the book after discovering this) and squash was not even listed in the ingredients. One, two, a half a squash... How would one make the recipe?

I love slow cooking. But I can't even begin to try to make sence out of these recipes. They are incomplete and mixed in together. Slow cooler oatmeal says to half the oil and saute the onions? Ummm, no thanks. Glad I got this book for free rental with prime, I might have asked for my 2.99 back if I payed for it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Bad first impression August 6, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I had such high hopes for this book. Just tried my first recipe in it--Risotto alla Milanese--and there's some kind of typo in it (wrong amount of rice, methinks). Dinner ruined! Bah! I'll probably try one more recipe, but if I find more typos, I'm tossing it. Aren't recipes in cookbooks supposed to be tested?

It's a bit difficult for me to cook from a Kindle edition (all my paper cookbooks have food stains in them), but so far I've tried the Potato Soup recipe. It was delicious!
