I just completed your book, "The Soul Mate Myth". I am an african american (gay) male who suffers from "fear of engulfment", so it was very interesting to see the steps needed to take to hopefully come out of my relationship fears. I would like to say that maybe after purchasing the book, it seemed like the book was for female readers because you often say "most guys will say or feel", or even the single ladies section. I guess maybe you have more female followers, which would make sense because maybe more heterosexual men aren't as dreamy or looking for fairytale love.

I will say that I have had high standards and most of my relationships havent reached beyond the 3 month mark because I am always looking for the flaws or why it simply will not work. I went on a date a few days ago, and I had some of your thoughts in the back of my mind the entire time. It helped me to realize that the PERFECT MATE is fictional, so i was able to enjoy the date whether their was chemistry or not. I live in NYC,Im 26 and this book has really been life changing. The section on depression (grieving for the mythic man), I still have not completely grasped or can emotionally connect to those feelings, but I will say I agree with many of your views and it has helped me tremendously. Even outside of dating, the book forces me to take a look at myself and why I do or feel the way that I feel.
