The Sourcebook of Architectural & Interior Art is one of those volumes easily passed over in the bookstores - if it is even available commercially in that venue. But this annual publication by Guild Sourcebooks is far more than a sampling of what is out there in manners of decor. This well composed and beautifully designed, full color, 335 page resource includes ideas and where to locate them, making the investigation and procurement of high end accoutrements for public and private buildings as simple as opening the cover.
The book is wisely divided into sections as follows: The Commission Process, Architectural Glass, Architectural Metal, Atrium Sculpture, Public Art, Non-Representational Sculpture, Representational Sculpture, Lighting, Murals Tiles & Wall Reliefs, Paintings & Prints, Fine Art Photography, Art for the Wall: Metal, Art for the Wall: Mixed Media, Fiber Art, and The Custom Design Center. This then is followed by very pertinent and succinct artists' statements which breathe life into the works viewed, and finally a location index which tells you exactly where to go to find the works that appeal.
The photography of the art etc is first class and the color reproduction is fully saturated. This is a superb book whether used as a resource or just a book to scan to see what is happening in art ideas today. Grady Harp, October 06
