5.0 out of 5 stars Best Of!, May 13, 2007
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
As a big fan of Guy Clark, "South Coast Of Texas" happens to be my ultimate favorite of his many releases that I own one way or the other or both [CD/LP]. I just couldn't figure WHY in the heck it took so long for it to become available on CD.

Every tune here, I give at least an A or 5*. The LP/CD starts off with "Who Do You Think You Are", a tune I'd sing/recite for my coworkers often [and I'm not from Texas, but have been to Ft. Worth] it's easy to see why a Rodney Crowell would be 'soooo' interested/inclined in/to covering a lot of Guys' songs/tunes/compositions/lyrics.

If you like anything in the Country/Blues/Americana/Folk Genre's, you HAVE to add this GEM to your collection. This is an easy MUST-HAVE.

Take also a special listening to "Crystelle", "New Cut Road", "Rita Ballou", "Heartbroke", "She's Crazy For Leaving", and "Calf Rope".

Trust Me. If you don't care for the aforementioned, you're tracking down the wrong road.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the finest "alt-country" albums ever made, May 18, 2007
This is my all-time favorite album by alt-country troubadour Guy Clark... A founding member of the legendary Austin scene, Clark is considered one of the finest songsmiths in modern country music... This 1981 masterpiece captures him at his most good-natured and joyful... The album is packed with gems such as "Rita Ballou," "New Cut Road," "She's Crazy For Leaving," "The Partner Nobody Chose," and "Heartbroke," which he co-wrote with Rodney Crowell. It's the kind of album you'll love to crank up to full volume and sing along with... Thank goodness it's finally back in print!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Disc, But Already Out on CD, October 19, 2009
The statement that this is the first time out on CD is wrong. Rounder issued a set with three complete original LPs on a 2CD set, titled "Craftsman". This is on it.
