One of the most recognized and superlatively talented choirs in the world, Soweto Gospel Choir has just released their latest offering titled, Divine Decade. This incredible album is part of the choir’s ten years of existence celebration.

The choir flexes its impressive vocal strength with a host of talented musical friends joining them on Divine Decade. The album showcases their ability to move between musical genres without losing their magical touch. With tracks that showcase how diversity the choir is; this album is must to have for music-lovers who have been following the choir’s musical journey since the inception.

As part of the ten year-anniversary, Soweto Gospel Choir recorded this project with fellow artists, The Soil, Joepraize, Zahara, Elvis Blue, Yvonne Chaka Chaka, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Solly Mahlangu, Corlea Botha, Robert Plant, Eric Wainaina, Johnny Clegg, Paul Ruske, HHP and U2 - who they have collaborated with over the years. The result of this magnetic collaboration is a multi-faceted recording which shows the wonderful diversity of the group’s style as a gospel choir that is able to sing all genres of music.

On the album, the choir’s rendition of ‘Mighty God’ featuring Joepraize touches on the gospel elements that they have come to be known for, while their rendition of Sarah McLachlan’s soul-wrenching ‘Angel’ makes one to appreciate the choir even more. Other songs to digest are, Emmy Award winning hit, ‘Put On Your Boots’, ‘Amazing Man’, ‘Sedilaka’, ‘Siyabonga Jesu’, ‘Where Could I Go But to The Lord’ and many others. After performing as Zahara’s special guest on her latest DVD, they asked her to join them on their own album for a male-voice, acapella version of her phenomenal hit ‘Loliwe’.

Over the years, this group of 50 singers has achieved global critical acclaim, including winning a number of Grammy Awards as well as a throng of fans both here at home and abroad. With YouTube hits of over 4 million on their track, “Amazing Grace” and with over 500 000 hits on other videos, the choir truly do have a global audience.
